QuoteWASHINGTON — Three days after the fierce battle over his nomination ended in his elevation to the Supreme Court, Justice Brett M. Kavanaugh will join his new colleagues on the bench for the first time on Tuesday morning, taking a seat on the far right side of the bench, in the spot reserved for the most junior justice.

The Minsky Moment

Nikki Haley is gone.
The adults are all leaving the building.

I wonder if the Kavanaugh thing bothered her.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

The Minsky Moment

I think Trump getting laughed at by the entire world bothered him.  And of course it couldn't possibly be his fault.

She did not confirm that the world was laughing with him rather than at him.  That was probably enough.

The Minsky Moment

When you work for Trump, no matter what your official duties or titles are, ultimately your real job is scapegoat-in-waiting.  It's just a matter of time before his sins end your job.

It's a shame, she seemed a competent (even if she had to do stupid things for Trump).  I suppose the lesson here is clear: Don't tie your boat to Trump  He'll capsize the boat out of spite, or stupidity, or just for his own amusement.

It sounds like she is leaving of her own volition, and is not being kicked out.  After all - Trump isn't capable of hiding his disdain for anyone who works for him.  And Trump has only had positive things to say about Haley.

Maybe she's had enough of being grabbed by the pussy.

So when are Kelly and Mattis leaving?

I wonder if part of this is simply the realization by Trump and Co. that they don't really have to care about even the appearance of having some sane people around them anymore.

Their base certainly does not care. Republicans in the House and Senate do not care.

So why should they care? Get rid of those killjoys who won't let Trump be Trump, and take things off of his desk so he doesn't start wars.

But Nikki Haley got along well with Trump (which is probably easier when your job is primarily in NYC, not DC).  She had no problem pushing Trump's agenda when necessary, and she positively gushed at him in the exit announcement.  There's nothing to suggest that she was pushed out.

@realDonaldTrump

The paid D.C. protesters are now ready to REALLY protest because they haven't gotten their checks - in other words, they weren't paid! Screamers in Congress, and outside, were far too obvious - less professional than anticipated by those paying (or not paying) the bills!

Shrewd political move. She was a governor, now UN ambassador, and got out of the Trump administration before the collapse starts. She is set up to run for president.

I'm embarrassed. I've been making the mistake of associating with you. It won't happen again. :)

She may have gotten bored. What's left to do, when you've burned all the old bridges, and the new friends have more direct channels than the UN anyway.

She had the "I don't get confused" moment. Trump doesn't forget stuff like that.
The Bannonite true believers in the administration, increasingly in the driver's seat on trade and foreign policy, see Haley as a bastion of neocon globalism.
I think she was pushed - maybe not overtly as in required to resign, but at least indirectly in terms of being frozen out.
