Edinburgh is the Sunderland option. Would be perfectly able to pop home to see the game on the weekend

Obviously being you, you should move to London 

Also probably the best option, seriously.

The option of last resort.
It has some advantages of officially being part of Britain thus having decent food and doctors. And it becoming ever more international is nice. But generally no, too many cockneys and rahs, too crowded, expensive and dangerous. Too cliche.

I'm not completely averse to that for a short time actually if I had a job lined up. Some of the more modern/historic (a contradiction that makes sense) cities on the coasts seem decent.
Involves faffing with visas and all that sort of thing though.

Cape Town or Jo'burg it would give fun aars to read.
