What do you do about a pigeon with a broken wing?

So, I was returing to work from lunch and saw a pigeon with his wing broken, laying on the pavement (people were largely ignoring it).

I called the city services who should pick him up and take him to a vet - but planning to check on the place when I get off work in two hours, in case they just ignored the call. If he is still there, I guess I will wrap him in some cloth and take him to the vet myself.

Any other ideas of what I could do?

Pigeons are generally pretty tame so you should be able to pick it up no problem. Taking the pigeon to an animal shelter might also be a good idea. They usually take birds as well I think.

Ok I will check on it when I am going home and see if it is still there. If it is, I will take it to a vet and ask them about an animal shelter.

Alternatively, I can take it home and put it on my balcony (AFTER I have been with it to the vet, of course!), but Rufus may go nuts over that (even though he is not allowed on the balcony). :P

So I can't post anything about my personal life without it being a humble brag? Are you guys so jealous? :P

He lives in North Dakota.

Right?

When I was a teen with my mother, she had us stop to get a hurt dove/pigeon. Would have been okay until it gave a coo like a shudder and then died in my lap.

Not if you think caring about an animal (and a pigeon to boot) should be considered a humble brag. Was Seedy doing so with his turtle story?

I found a pigeon with a broken wing a few weeks ago, I called city services but I'm pretty sure they just sacrificed it.  :hmm:
