Well that was because they played that opening match before everybody else. I guess by that logic the whole tournament was also rigged in Romania's favor.

To be fair to Tyr, some French commentators said France was at a disadvantage since they had too many days of rest. A big problem since it meant having no competitive pace.

A game a week is the standard the players are used to. And this is at the end of their seasons so.... more rest the better.

Which would be fair to say... if it wasn't obvious France are much better than romania and more likely to finish where they did.

The calendar is always rigged in favor of the host nation, and it is by design. UEFA/FIFA want the host nation to go deep in the tournament since it provides better atmosphere in the stadiums.

It's not a big deal, anyhow. Didn't help Brazil much last time around, for example.

In theory yes. Except the French fans did not provide much atmosphere in the stadia or in the tournament cities. They only woke up last night in Paris for instance.
