What Is Human Becomes Animal

It is true that labor produces for the rich wonderful things—but for the worker it produces privation. It produces palaces—but for the worker, hovels. It produces beauty—but for the worker, deformity. It replaces labor by machines—but some of the workers it throws back to a barbarous type of labor, and the other workers it turns into machines. It produces intelligence—but for the worker idiocy, cretinism.

The direct relationship of labor to its produce is the relationship of the worker to the objects of his production. The relationship of the man of means to the objects of production and to production itself is only a consequence of this first relationship—and confirms it.

When we ask, then, what is the essential relationship of labor, we are asking about the relationship of the worker to production. As a result, therefore, man (the worker) no longer feels himself to be freely active in any but his animal functions—eating, drinking, procreating, or at most in his dwelling and in dressing-up, etc. And in his human functions he no longer feels himself to be anything but an animal. What is animal becomes human and what is human becomes animal.

-Karl Marx

Enjoy your suppressed wages as your ask yourself, "What have I done to increase shareholder value today?"

How horrible, to imply that all Languishites derive their sustenance from labour and not capital.

Most countries in Europe do not have a concept of "bank holidays" the way the UK has. The holiday falls on the date it is supposed to fall - it doesn't mean you get the nearest Monday off.

Given that most holidays are religious anyway, it makes sense that you get the day off when the actual holiday happens - only for a politically correct secular dystopia like the UK it's just a day off. :P

It is Jos. If it isn't like what he had as a kid, it is wrong.

What exactly happened to Marty?  Was he replaced by Mirror Universe Marty?
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

This is like that Harry Potter movie with the dude keeping the weird one eyed guy in a box.
Winner of THE grumbler point.

If someone spend too much time gazing at a mirror, how do they end up telling the reflection from themselves?

Anyway I know that's rubbish, but I tried to make the analogy as Martyesque as possible.   :P
