I still stand by my prediction of a Tory 30 odd majority, haven't really been following the campaign much, other than reading this thread over the last few weeks.

Farewell United Kingdom, it was an OK idea whilst it lasted. I say that because given the choice between Johnson and Corbyn, the UK electorate were never going have the chance to head brexit off at the pass.

I do think the Lib dems will do better than expected, tactical remain voting will have some impact, but it'll be outweighed by tradition labour voters throwing themselves, their chidren's future and communities under the Johnson/Trumpist juggernaut.  <_<

Exit polls:

Con 368
Lab 191
Libdem 13
SNP 55

Sheilbh

Fuck.

Exit poll predicting 368 seats for Tories. Tory majority of 86.

Labour collapse to 191 which is lower than Michael Foot :bleeding: :weep:

Much as I want a Tory majority I simply don't believe that Exit Poll - none of the polls have suggested that the SNP is going to snatch all bar 1 seat in Scotland, nor that Labour will fall back that far.

I am not going to say anything about "eating my hat" though.

However Michael Foot was a decent, principled reasoned man.

I don't think the polls will be as incorrect as to have anything than a comfortable majority for the Tories.

I guess we'll find out what Johnson and co. intends to do with Brexit for real.

Well remain is dead if that's the case. Also, there definitely will be no fig leaves for Corbyn.

I hope you're right. But.....it's John Curtice.

Though the figures they are predicting on the vote is Tories 48% (of course), Labour 34%, Lib Dems 12%, Brexit 7.5%. Which seems extraordinary.....

Edit: Also SNP on 55 of 59 seats strikes me as plausible.

All there is left is to hope all tory voters face swift deaths. They truly are a cancer.  :bowler:

Guess its time to reconsider the house buying and reopen the escape plan.

Whoops - my mind had said 56 seats for Scotland, not 59. :Embarrass:

I still don't believe it though - if the exit poll thinks the Tories have 48% I don't see how their Scottish vote has collapsed enough to lose that many seats. I'd be pegging them for over 30% in Scotland if that 48% was correct.

And there's no way that many "red wall" seats have gone - we'd have to be talking about seats that haven't voted Tory in 50 years or more.

I can't help but think they've got the wrong polling stations this time for the Exit poll.

As long as Hungary stays in the EU, I at least still get to stand in the EU queue at passport control and laugh at all the Brits who voted themselves out of it :P

Penny for Arlene Foster's thoughts.

After or including? 2005 was the election where a party got a workable majority with only a little over a third of the vote IIRC.
