Yeah - and I can't drive

I can't legally drive in the UK despite knowing how to drive as I've only have my learner's permit.

Neither can I. :)

Shssh, can we all be a bit quiet and not give away to Tamas the secret that nearly all of the UK train network is centred on London.

Really, you'd probably be a Much safer driver here than me, as I've not driven in 20 years.

Hmmm....I think ships might be better.

Good point, hadn't considered that, but I guess it depends on the type of ship and the journey.

IIRC ships can often be more polluting than trains, but depends of the nature of the fuels used.

Also probably PDH's sailing trip across the Pacific probably rates as one of the best journeys any Languishite has mentioned, saving probably grumblers naval war cruises.

That's two in the Republic and one in Northern Ireland. Larch had three in the Republic.

Yeah I know. I was there. I was speaking of Ireland, which encompasses both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland (the clue is right there in both names).

That said, I can't count - I only saw two on the Larch's map

Yeah, beholden to a strict schedule, starting and departing at specific (often out of the way) parts of cities/towns so then you need to get a bus or taxi to anywhere of note, sharing your ride with a bunch of strangers talking, eating, listening to music. Why would I replace that with the flexibility, comfort and freedom of a car? :P
