They should have pointed out that one could argue Trump's marriage(s) are so powerful/happy, that he built three families. :P

The defense of Trump's lies that someone else told lies is as weak as "the jury was bought off by George Soros" and "their leaders don't practice what they preach." None of their claims excuse Trump's alleged actions.
The future is all around us, waiting, in moments of transition, to be born in moments of revelation. No one knows the shape of that future or where it will take us. We know only that it is always born in pain.   -G'Kar

And pathetic in that that pretty much describes most Trump-backed GOP candidates (and of course, the man himself).

I'm fairly certain the civil trial against Trump was not dismissed.  He lost that trial and had to pay money.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

The Minsky Moment

Did Joe Biden manage to get out even 30,000 words during his Presidency?  That anyone could understand?
We have, accordingly, always had plenty of excellent lawyers, though we often had to do without even tolerable administrators, and seen destined to endure the inconvenience of hereafter doing without any constructive statesmen at all.

Quote from: Baron von Schtinkenbutt on April 15, 2026, 11:19:39 AMIt's interesting how religion frequently ends up as the public face of racism and xenophobia in the US.  A hundred years ago they'd be railing against "Papists" or similar, because they didn't want the filthy Irish, Italians, or Poles coming over en masse.  Now it's Muslims and Hindus, while those other groups are "good immigrants" now.  That wave was driven by a lot of "good immigrants" as well.  I remember a political cartoon from that era in one of my high school history textbooks calling out that very hypocrisy back then.

On the subject of "you have to assimilate into your new country", I have noticed that attitude a lot over the years from European immigrants to the US.  I wonder how much of that is imported with them, as my impression of European countries, British Isles notwithstanding, is that they range from hard on to openly hostile to immigrants who don't do this.  They don't seem to get that the US isn't really supposed to work like that, despite the efforts of some groups here to make it so.

I thought the US was a melting pot. Isn't that exactly how it's supposed to work? New additions melt into the pre-existing soup.

I don't understand what this is even a reference to.
Quote"This is a Russian warship. I propose you lay down arms and surrender to avoid bloodshed & unnecessary victims. Otherwise, you'll be bombed."

Zmiinyi defenders: "Russian warship, go fuck yourself."

QuoteAs democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

The total takeover of the Democratic Party by the trotskyist-leninists of the DSA, I guess? Because that's a thing that's happening apparently. At least in Raz's world.

It's attacking the moderates in the Democratic party.  I was amused by how ignorant it was since the colonists did in fact send a petition to the King of England trying to stave off a war.
