Ugh. Sometimes my mother....I really can't have nice things. She has already destroyed all my airfix models including my battleships. Loads of other fragile things she has broke too. Lots of my warhammer stuff was broken by her. And she has the cheek to blame me for not using enough glue. Now she's threatening to move loads of my warhammer stuff en masse into shoe boxes so she can do unnecessary redecorating in my room. I just know not much of it will survive her.
This added onto her usual attempts to control me...I'm a bit late with this, should have gone through with it when everyone else does, when I was 12, but bloody hell.
Living at home is teh suck. The economy better pick up as I'm not doing this again, 2 weeks is bad enough

If you are an adult living with your parents, it isn't "your" room anymore. You are storing your stuff (and yourself) in "her" room.

No doubt this isn't your fault, what with the shitty economy being what it is ... but it is not her fault either. She's doing you a favour letting you store your collection (and yourself) in her space. I'd cut her a ton of slack in that situation - not that this entitles her to deliberately smash your stuff (if that's what she's doing), but certainly if she has plans to renovate, you ought to be accomodating.

A local storage place should be able to offer decent monthly rates for your stuff, Tyr.  And you can go visit it whenever you want.

QuoteIn a police memorandum from 2010, a Highway Patrol sergeant who reviewed 20 of Ms. Steed's marijuana-impairment cases found she was indeed arresting drivers who had no drugs in their system.

In the memo, first reported by Salt Lake City news outlets, the sergeant said Ms. Steed would report that the drivers showed visual signs of impairment, and he worried defense lawyers would begin questioning her credibility.

There's always somebody checking your shit, sugartits.

You are going to have to pack your stuff yourself before you move back to Asia.

You already moved out dude, it might be time for you to realize it.
Colonel Caliga is Awesome.

I haven't entirely moved out though. I don't have a proper job and I'm not settled anywhere. Being away in Japan is like being away at uni.
And that I'm not around just makes it even more so that she doesn't need to redecorate. It doesn't matter what my room looks like if I'm not in here.
Her destruction of my stuff has been happening for years, its nothing new, ever since I was a kid I've seen my work ruined.

Before Japan, it was Sweden. You haven't lived in that house for longer then I have moved out of my parents house!

Moving out & settling somewhere are not the same thing.

Once again, it isn't "your" room. Maybe she has a planned use for it that doesn't involve you living in it.

If you are worried about your stuff, take up Seedy's suggestion.

Nah. I've seen on American TV shows stuff with people's rooms getting turned into gyms and all that. That isn't in the culture of people around here though. People's bedrooms generally remain their bedrooms and its left up to them to eventually strip them of everything worthwhile. At my aunt's house my cousin's old room still has a lot of stuff from when  he was a kid and he's in his 40s and is married with an 18 year old kid of his own now.

The trouble with moving stuff myself is I don't have the materials to do that right now and there's nowhere safe to keep anything that I can guarntee they wouldnt just disturb it anyway. Our house is pretty small, doesn't have an attic or cellar or other specialised storage area.

It's also part of your culture not to go to uni, isn't it?

If you don't want it to be smashed up, at least pack it safely as you leave it in the room.
