Social Security stopped sending out hard copies of annual statements, so I just set up an online account.

To confirm my identity they asked me questions about a car I had bought 20 years ago and who I financed it with.  That's spooky.

It sounds like sixth army is assaulting Stalingrad out there.

I've heard no fireworks in the neighborhood this year.  I think the parents took the fire marshal's warning seriously.  Really dry outside.  Last month a building caught on fire because someone threw a cigarette into the wood chips they had around the building.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

It is far better for the truth to tear my flesh to pieces, then for my soul to wander through darkness in eternal damnation.

Jet: So what kind of woman is she? What's Julia like?
Faye: Ordinary. The kind of beautiful, dangerous ordinary that you just can't leave alone.
Jet: I see.

Just remember lettow--later in life you will regret more the things you dared not do than the things you did.

I wandered with a couple of aquaintences through tenjin, nakasu, and hakata for a solid twelve hours last night, getting back at 6 AM. It was a very tiring experience, but pleasant. Yatai-goers are a very friendly bunch, and being from Tennessee has resulted in me being given a gift of hard liquor twice now.

What an overwhelmingly friendly and safe city.

Sounds like a good way to ensure your ID, if you answer the wrong one, no access?

For lunch, I baked some salmon burger patties my mother had given me.

Dear Christ in Heaven, my place smells like a dead Turkish hooker.   Oh God never fucking again.

I like the Geoff Tate one.

Speaking of which, it looks like Queensryche has committed seppuku. The rest of the band "fired" GT, and now they're imploding into lawsuits. All over money, apparently.
