What's the name of the court position that would have announced foreign diplomats/nobles back in the renaissance period? Best I can find so far is Master of Ceremonies but that seems strange.

In some places the title was "usher" though that was earlier I think.  Beadle was another court title sort of like this too - many different titles depending on place and time.
