Josquius

I used to like chicken paste sandwiches.
Though maybe wouldn't if I'd seen this ad.

Tamas

See, nowadays they call this "pate" and make it sound elegant. (yes I know that's usually pork)

 I was just thinking - why does translating paste into French make it suddenly classy? :P

Semi-relatedly interesting breakdown of meat consumption by nation:
Let's bomb Russia!

The Brain

Meat consumption? What a way to go.
Women want me. Men want to be with me.

celedhring

Surprised pork is so low for us.

I'm amazed fish is so high for us - though I suspect I may personally be responsible for skewing that given I have fish most days

I always thought we were very bad at eating fish compared to most of Europe.

Richard Hakluyt

Unadventurous I would think; quite a lot of fish fingers and frozen cod/haddock in breadcrumbs I would suspect.

Duque de Bragança

Portugal! :)

Argentina leads for beef, no surprise. :)

Either this is ironic or I'm not reading the chart right...  :hmm:

It'd be interesting to see more European countries in that list, as Spain and Portugal are near the top of seafood consumption in the world and well ahead of any other European country.

The UK does consume some fish, but as Tricky Dick says is very unadventurous about it and it's difficult to move beyond white fish to be battered and deep fried. See how with Brexit lots of British fishermen are having trouble selling their products abroad because there's no demand for them in the UK.

celedhring

Not ironic. 54 kg is way too low!

Ive had fish in Portugal... Albeit in a touristy area.
Have to say it didn't seem so different to English fish.

Aren't we world leaders already with those numbers?

I seriously doubt it unless you were really unlucky regarding the kind of place you went to. Portugal has tons of different ways of preparing cod alone, for instance.

Duque de Bragança

Touristy area, catering for the Brits, is a recipe for (cuisine) disaster.
