I also avoid debit card most of the time, as if something terrible happened, I'd rather have all my money most of the month till I pay the credit bill.

I fail to see your point, surely you have several months wages stashed away?

Sure, of course. But why limit the money I have on hand if I don't have to?

Well, one can look at it two ways. I have an unused credit card in reserve and you have cash in reserve. The same thing in practice.

What fee do you pay for your debit card?  It is no cost to me.

Last time I looked around, the only banks offering no fees were online ones.

Vienna's Steirereck is ranked #13 in "The World's Top 50 Restaurants 2018":

Oohhhh... Disfrutar has entered the list at #18. Gotta sample that one.  :hmm:

Enjoy is a rather pretentious name.

Enjoy is a rather pretentious name.

We have loads of decadently pretentious restaurants over here. Barcelona is going through a haute cuisine bubble.

My favorite is "Enigma" where when you reserve are given a secret passcode you have to type in a keypad in order to access. Can't take photos of the food or space (many have leaked, of course), can't divulge any detail from the menu, etc... and it's of course insanely expensive.

Fun for the wealthy and the aspirant.

I'm neither.  :P

However one of my employers supplies wine to several of those places, and he's invited me a couple of times - to casually display his considerable wealth I guess.

To be fair, Steirereck is quite all right. Though their busiest restaurant (they have three) is the Meierei near Stadtpark, which also has reasonable prices. But yeah, for Vienna the prices are pretty upmarket (Steirereck charges ca. 40 EUR for a main course, Meierei ca. 20).

In general, haute cuisine is not a thing in Vienna. There's a few trendy restaurants and of course upscale places, but in general people will go with places that offer a good value for money ratio.
