I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

I want to be friends with Antonio,

Antonio is great.  He's the night manager, lots of fun.  I bring donuts in once a week, to make up for terrible personality, and he always wants blueberry ones.

Just realised I forgot to pay online the Stansted Airport drop off parking charge last week. Went to pay it now. You can only select today or yesterday as the day of the visit. And you better remember when you were there behcse you have to select it with 15 minutes accuracy. Interesting that they don't ask you select how long you stayed even though that decides the amount to be paid.

In any case, this means the 10 pounds parking is going to cost me 60.the fine will come in for a 100 with the "discount" if you pay it fast.

I did this once at Heathrow it's the same company managing it. Like, i should had remembered it but its kind of setup hoping you forget so they can fine you.

I notice my heritage has changed how it handles ancestries again.... I believe for the sillier.
They've grouped Scottish and Welsh together and I am apparently majority in that and not English at all (my known family are from northern England and Ireland. Zero Scots or Welsh).
Actual science does not show much similarity between Scots and Welsh, nor indeed between north and south Welsh.
The Finnish 10% remains though. Despite the bollocks elsewhere this keeps fascinating me.

Conversely, I peaked at 52% Scottish but that has mainly gone away and I am now 65% NE England instead. It's all a bit of a mess as they seem to be placing too much importance on modern political boundaries; my suspicion is that the England-Scotland border is of no genetic significance at all.

crazy canuck

Something the locals have always known. When I was hitchhiking through the area back in the time before time, I loved how everybody simply referred to the area as the borders.

In several surveys, the overwhelming first choice for what makes Canada unique is multiculturalism. This, in a world collapsing into stupid, impoverishing hatreds, is the distinctly Canadian national project.

It's not. I think 23 & me used to have a better map.

The research does show a broad "English group" over most of the country but it's fairly South and East oriented with there being a seperate Bernician group across the north and Scottish lowlands.

Looking at the image again I ponder if this is where they made the error. My Irish family is largely in the north which would have had a lot of historic cross over with Scotland - albeit in my case with my ancestors cousin invading Scotland from Ireland.

I guess they're appealing to Americans for whom being special and from a small celtic nation has more appeal than Northern England.

Once got one of those done. I think I was 90% different shades of Irish Sea - all over Ireland, Isle of Man, bit of North Wales, bit of Cornwall, some Dal Riata Scotland.

And 10% South-eastern England or Low Countries or Northern France. The Normans up to no good as usual <_<

:w00t: Also very excited for Eurovision Asia later this year (first host: Bangkok).

I expect it to be even better, gayer and more spectacular than Euro-Eurovision.

Eurovision Asia - why not call "Asiavision"?

Leaves too much room for racist jokes.

It absolutely should  be Asiavision.
But yes. Seems a good thing. Hope it gets wide coverage and exposes elderly Japanese people to mega camp.

Edit - oh. Checking up there's no Japan though these is Indonesia and Bangladesh. Hmm

Map Shows States Hit With 'Explosive' Diarrhea Outbreaks

Life in the US wasn't shitty enough...

QuoteWhat Is Cyclosporiasis, and How Does It Spread?
Cyclosporiasis is a foodborne illness that most commonly occurs after people consume fresh produce contaminated with the Cyclospora cayetanensis parasite.

The CDC describes its most typical symptoms as "watery diarrhea with frequent, sometimes explosive, bowel movements."

I suppose this is one of the things that happens when you fire all health / food inspectors.
