Quebec doesn't keep divorce stats further than 2008, we topped out at about a 50% rate.

Quebec's marriage rates have plummeted from 90% before 50 first marriage to a 30% before 50 first marriage in ~50 years.

Just saw a survey that shows that roughly 60% of marriages in Spain end up in divorce. Average length of a marriage that ends up in divorce is 17 years.

How does that compare to your countries?

17 years? Well nobody can say the Spanish don't give their marriages a chance. Though you guys also get married at a rather shockingly low rate compared to us.

The US is slightly lower at about 41% but we only last about 8 years before divorcing.

It probably sounds less niche if you label it something like 'studying the continuing influence of the Western image of ancient history on a specific aspect of popular culture".  ;)

The 'popular' view of heavy metal fans was formed in the 1980s, and doesn't at all reflect contemporary reality  ;) - it's forty years out of date, and in popular culture, forty years is an eternity.

I mean, think of some folks approaching the 1920s, with a view of the culture of the day formed in 1880 ...

Apparently there are whole academic publications centered on Heavy Metal (the guy mentions "Metal Music Studies", where he's a published author) and international societies of researchers in the topic. Can't be that strange.  :P

Yeah - reception is a very popular bit of classics now. And better the academics who can study heavy metal and the poor academics who spend their time analysing Troy and Oliver Stone's Alexander biopic :console:

Well if you are going to get divorced, earlier rather than later has its merits. No kids for one.

I know a few 40 year olds that had to move back with their parents whilst still paying the family flat where the ex lives with the kids.   :pinch:

But then the breeding part done and kids produced they have fulfilled the meaning of life and can enjoy themselves with the rest of it.
