Most of France is in the "wrong" timezone too, is that an issue up there?

I'm starting to get the threatening letters and emails again from the TV licensing bureau now that my license is almost up. I see they are increasing the fee this year. I wonder if I should instead just cut the cord and get rid of my cable that I hardly ever use. :hmm:

You still have a TV & still need to pay.

Yeah, I thought that fee was for a TV, not for cable.  But I don't live in the UK so what do I know.

Nah.

QuoteYou must have a TV Licence if you: watch or record programmes on a TV, computer or other device as they're broadcast. download or watch BBC programmes on iPlayer – live, catch up or on demand.

Also, sad that Canada has such draconian measures. We don't have that in the land of the free!

We were discussing UK tv licenses, although we apparenrtly didn't know what we were talking about.  But since when has that ever stopped anyone on Languish?

It's less pronounced than in Spain, and the French don't have the same rhythm as Spaniards  :P but yes it is sometimes brought up. Once the main argument that it was "German time" so "German time" (l'heure allemande) became a by-word for German occupation, from a novel, but now daylight saving time is more criticised.

I don't know about Belgium, they were also once in line with the U.K and France, time-wise.

PS: just check on wiki, Luxembourg too.

Yeah, we don't have that. I know alot about all of the western world regulations of Cable, TV, Phone & Internet.

Altho, I didn't know they had extended the license to almost all devices.

I believe it was last year or the year before, definitely while I've been living in the UK, that they expanded the tv license to cover the reality of broadcast viewing (aka streaming) and use of BBC iplayer in the modern age.
