Quote from: ValHoly shit by five?  That is pretty amazing.  That is more than taking him to the Asian American heritage parade, he is freaking fluent in Mandarin by age five.  Most people just hope their kid can read English by five.  Jewish kids are barely fluent in Hebrew after a decade at those Jewish weekend school things.  Wow.

If I ever have a kid, she's learning Mandarin by age five.  Also algebra.

oil companies in north dakota burn 25%~ of the gas they extract.* there's just not enough infrastructure yet to send it anywhere.

in contrast, texas burns less than a percent. :D

*when oil is extracted from the ground, natural gas comes with it. the gas isn't worth much -- roughly 6-8% of oil prices.

I really like when you get automated emails from businesses congratulating you on your birthday, before the day.

They're sending it today with the expectation that you won't see it until tomorrow as a pleasant surprise, since most normal people don't check their work emails until they get to the office on Monday.   :)

To clarify I meant businesses like p'dox. I don't know about you but I don't generally have gaming companies email me on my work email. :P

Look on the bright side, if you'd been born in Sweden several of their games would have featured the event "Future Paradox stalwart is born today, Sunday 3rd November 1985."

I figure I'm in the net positive, what with the money they paid the team for "For The Glory". :P

Beautiful oil paintings of Soviet Mechs of the 1920s

Quoted so BB can lose another IQ point on this page. :yeah:

Also cause they're kind of neat.

It's not authentic unless the mechs are accompanied by Soviet half-man/half ape hybrid soldiers.  ;)

Polish mechs would be cooler if they had their hussar wings.
