I know it's in the spirit of the day, but damn does it look creepy today.

Then again, it has Ricardo Montalban ....

"Baby It's Cold Outside"

(I really can't stay) But, baby, it's cold outside
(I've got to go away) But, baby, it's cold outside
(This evening has been) Been hoping that you'd drop in
(So very nice) I'll hold your hands they're just like ice

(My mother will start to worry) Beautiful, what's your hurry
(My father will be pacing the floor) Listen to the fireplace roar
(So really I'd better scurry) Beautiful, please don't hurry
(Well, maybe just half a drink more) Put some records on while I pour

(The neighbors might think) Baby, it's bad out there
(Say what's in this drink) No cabs to be had out there
(I wish I knew how) Your eyes are like starlight now
(To break this spell) I'll take your hat, your hair looks swell

(I ought to say no, no, no, sir) Mind if I move in closer
(At least I'm gonna say that I tried) What's the sense of hurting my pride
(I really can't stay) Baby, don't hold doubt
[Both] Baby, it's cold outside

(I simply must go) Baby, it's cold outside
(The answer is no) Baby, it's cold outside
(The welcome has been) How lucky that you dropped in
(So nice and warm) Look out the window at the storm

(My sister will be suspicious) Gosh your lips look delicious
(My brother will be there at the door) Waves upon a tropical shore
(My maiden aunt's mind is vicious) Gosh your lips are delicious
(But maybe just a cigarette more) Never such a blizzard before

(I got to get home) But, baby, you'd freeze out there
(Say lend me a coat) It's up to your knees out there
(You've really been grand) I thrill when you touch my hand
(But don't you see) How can you do this thing to me

(There's bound to be talk tomorrow) Think of my life long sorrow
(At least there will be plenty implied) If you caught pneumonia and died
(I really can't stay) Get over that old doubt
[Both] Baby, it's cold
[Both] Baby, it's cold outside

Yeah, I was reading about how back then, this is really just the woman putting up token resistance.

I did like this Vine from Buzzfeed:

"I've never been quite sure what the point of a eunuch is, if truth be told. It seems to me they're only men with the useful bits cut off."
I drank because I wanted to drown my sorrows, but now the damned things have learned to swim.

Mmm, "token resistance".  Yum-may.

I hadn't seen the original movie scene before, and it's really not something that would fly today. It's Montalban in "Space Seed" form, only slightly more playful.

The only creepy thing in the song in today's context is "Say, what's in this drink?"

My favorite version of the song is with Louis Armstrong & Velma Middleton.
"If you can play a guitar and harmonica at the same time, like Bob Dylan or Neil Young, you're a genius. But make that extra bit of effort and strap some cymbals to your knees, suddenly people want to get the hell away from you."  --Rich Hall

Ah yeah that was the part, I was thinking - with implication that it was then used as an excuse to do what she actually wants to do, but under the cover that it is the alcohol and not her who bears the responsibility.

The song yes - the video is a bit more explicit in her resisting his advances. Of course it's immediately played for laughs in the second half where gender roles are reversed.

You want dodgy? Go with Serge/Charlotte Gainsbourg's Lemon Incest. Not only is it a horrible song artistically, the video also features bare chested Serge with his twelve year old daughter wearing panties on a bed.

Le plus pur, le plus enivrant

Yes, this song is about implied rape.

Except when sung by Kurt and Blaine from Glee :P

Mmm, "token resistance".  Yum-may.

Ah, Token Resistance, the reason for date rape.

I know I'm cruel, but this the point where I observe that "no means no" and suggest that whoever doesn't live "here" leaves. Apparently no means don't let me feel like I'm an easy lay.
First Maxim - "There are only two amounts, too few and enough."
First Corollary - "You cannot have too many soldiers, only too few supplies."
Second Maxim - "Be willing to exchange a bad idea for a good one."
Second Corollary - "You can only be wrong or agree with me."

A terrorist which starts a slaughter quoting Locke, Burke and Mill has completely missed the point.
The fact remains that the only person or group to applaud the Norway massacre are random Islamists.

Yeah that just takes it to a dark place.

Hey now, don't get me wrong:  I know when enough is enough.  And when I can't see because of the pepper spray.

Being lazy is bad; unless you still get what you want, then it's called "patience".
