Well?  I'm not all that sure myself.  Blood On The Tracks is a pretty good record.  I sometimes like the Byrds' versions better than the originals.
"The internet's completely over. [...] The internet's like MTV. At one time MTV was hip and suddenly it became outdated. Anyway, all these computers and digital gadgets are no good. They just fill your head with numbers and that can't be good for you."

Love, I guess.  I enjoy some Dylan.  I like "The Hurricane."

Love. It keeps my inner leftist nourished.

Pretty apathetic toward Bob D, really.  Now, Bob Seger, on the other hand...

I drank because I wanted to drown my sorrows, but now the damned things have learned to swim.

May you grow up to be righteous
May you grow up to be true
May you always know the truth
And see the lights surrounding you
May you always be courageous
Stand upright and be strong
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young

Ah yeah.  Pity Bob Dylan didn't stay young.  Old Bob has a creepiness factor about him.

Ideologue

So does Old Ide.  You love me. :)

I like some of his songs.  Short of love.

Like him as a songwriter, don't care for him as a performer.

He was the master of nasty, you have to give him that.

Idiot wind, blowing every time you move your teeth
You're an idiot babe, it's a wonder that you still know how to breathe.

I ain't saying you treated me unkind
You could've done better, but I don't mind
You just kind of wasted my precious time
Don't think twice, it's all right.

The most apt criticism I've ever heard of Bob Dylan is "He writes awesome songs; unfortunately, he insists on singing them himself."  Neil Young syndrome.

He's a product of his times, and I appreciate him in that context.  Other artists may have done the folk rock thing better, but they all point to him as the inspiration.

Like PW says, like him as a songwriter.  Some of his best stuff is covered better by other artists.

Ed Anger

His All along the Watchtower is superior to Hendrix's version.

Discuss.

In general I agree with your post except for your comment on Neil Young, who I think has (had?) a beautiful voice.
