Ah yeah.  Pity Bob Dylan didn't stay young.  Old Bob has a creepiness factor about him.

The most apt criticism I've ever heard of Bob Dylan is "He writes awesome songs; unfortunately, he insists on singing them himself."  Neil Young syndrome.

He's a product of his times, and I appreciate him in that context.  Other artists may have done the folk rock thing better, but they all point to him as the inspiration.

Like PW says, like him as a songwriter.  Some of his best stuff is covered better by other artists.
