Yi is getting crushed by the Phillipine juggernaut. :weep:

Off home to catch the extra time.  Or maybe the boozer would be better.

Never count out the Greeks in tournament football   ;)

I missed the last half of the game but it seems they choked in penalties. I backed the wrong horse in that one.  :(

Can't see any upsets tomorrow unless the French spontaneously surrender, which is always possible.

France and Germany easily onto the quarters.

Holland for the cup!

Though Mexico winning would be kind of funny given how excited a lot of Americans seem to be about this tournament. Its nice to imagine their cleaners giving them smug looks.

They are our arch rivals.  We are constantly exchanging looks with our cleaners following Mexico's constant stream of failures.

Yeah, in general I want to see teams from our region do well, but I just couldn't bring myself to root for Mexico.

QuoteFifa is investigating a bust-up at the World Cup after claims the Chile striker Mauricio Pinilla was punched by Brazil's communications director Rodrigo Paiva at half-time during Saturday's match. Paiva, a well-known figure in Brazilian football, has admitted to shoving Pinilla but said that he did so only in self-defence.

Fifa's disciplinary committee is believed to have access to video footage and pictures of the incident in Belo Horizonte.

A scuffle broke out as the teams headed to the dressing rooms in the Estádio Mineirão, sparked by the Brazil striker Fred slapping Gary Medel on the back of the head as they walked off the pitch.

Brazil media said Paiva and the Chile assistant manager Sebastián Beccacece were involved in a confrontation which ended Paiva punching Pinilla. Paiva said there was pushing between the squads and added: "It was not just me. Pinilla came towards me and I just defended myself. I reacted by pushing him."

Pinilla, who plays for Italian side Cagliari, came off the bench and nearly won the match for Chile but his shot in the last seconds of the match struck the cross-bar.

The striker was then one of three Chile players to miss penalties in the shoot-out which Brazil won 3-2 to go through to the quarter-finals.

Jet: So what kind of woman is she? What's Julia like?
Faye: Ordinary. The kind of beautiful, dangerous ordinary that you just can't leave alone.
Jet: I see.
Faye: Like an angel from the underworld. Or a devil from Paradise.

I fell asleep before the end of the game. Was confused when the headlines this morning said the Dutch won.

There is a "song" stuck in my head that I keep hearing, I am pretty sure the crowd "sings" it and it goes:

AAAAAAA-OOOOOO-AAAAAA, AA-OOO-AAA-OOOO-AAAA

Any ideas?

Yeah should be a boring day, although I do have my money on French and German victories :shifty:

Yeah, in general I want to see teams from our region do well, but I just couldn't bring myself to root for Mexico.

I got roped into watching the game with several Mexicans, plus a couple Puerto Ricans, a Venezuelan, a German, and an Argentine-- all of whom were rooting for Mexico.  I supported Mexico in group play, but started thinking about their fans before this game.  So I quietly supported the Dutch.

Also, the Mexican coach looks like a Mexican Pete Rose.

I'm embarrassed. I've been making the mistake of associating with you. It won't happen again. :)
