Between one hundred and two hundred a year, not counting comic books and graphic novels.

Er..what?
You read a book every two days?

I used to be able to do that. USED TO.  :(

Doesn't reading "Good Night, Moon" three times a day run the numbers up a bit?
To sleep, perchance to dream. But in that sleep of death, what dreams may come?

I usually have two fiction books (one on a tablet for my commute, one paper by my bed), one non-fiction and a handful of magazines on the go at any one time. It takes me ages to get through them these days, though, because I  skim-read hundreds of thousands of words a day for work. As Giles Coren so rightly put it: "without question, journalists are the least well-read people you will ever meet (unless you regularly meet chefs)."

I generally read about five books at a time, cycling between them. I have to read a lot of academic work and religious texts. So I plow through loads of Victorian adventure novels, and biographies to give myself a break.

How do you remember what was going on in each book as you cycle between them?  Why do you have to read a lot of religious texts?  And you read Victorian Adventure novels?  WTH?
