I recently got an aquarium too... no rescue, though.  Still there's been some fatalities.  All the molly fry keeps getting eaten and twice one of the barbs died and got half eaten before I noticed and fished out the corpse.

Aquariums are fun.  Fish are brutal.

I had a 20 gallon tank with a couple of mollys in it, among others.  They soon became the dominant species.  Dogged persistence beats infant mortality in many cases.

This past weekend I cleaned our aquarium, I "cleaned out" about 40 guppies, no wonder my tree in the front yard is the healthies of the street.

I had a dream last night that I was watching a friend's fish.  I was trying to clean out the tank and somehow dumped the entire thing in the sink and was trying to 'fish' out the surviving fish from the plunger thing.
