i've been having problems with connecting my laptop to a JVC TV. it works fine visually, but the audio cuts out every 5 seconds for 1-2 seconds. i tried another HDMI cord, but the same problem occurred

Did it work before?

Wich type of cables are these, HDMI 1.3, 1.4 or 2.0?

Is it a regular signal or a 3D signal?

Not all HDMI cables are the same, but a 1.4 cable from brand X and a 1.4 cable from band Y are the same.  And they either work, or they don't.

I would start by reinstalling your video drivers on your laptop.  Uninstall the current drivers, reboot, let Windows install some drivers if it prompts you too, then re-download the newest drivers and install them.
