Remember you're talking to a Winnipeg Jets fan.  The history and heritage of a sports team belongs to the city and to that city's fans, not to some corporate body that may come and go.

That's fine.  Plus, I'd be willing to give more latitude to an arena that sees more general use as opposed to a baseball stadium purpose built for that one team.

It's very unlikely Johnson threw at 95+.  He was once clocked around 90 but using equipment not designed for that purpose.

It's kind of weird that even today we don't seem to have a precise clocking method everyone agrees upon.  For example I've seen Chapman throw what appears as 106 on the scoreboard, and reading up on it the next day that pitch is listed as 101.9 or 102.7 depending on how they measured it.

And apparently there are multiple claims to the fastest pitch ever thrown or even the top 10 fastest pitches.

Having seen all of about 30 at bats the whole season it does seem like there more pitchers throwing in the high 90s than ever before.

What do you guys think?

derspiess

I think you're probably right. There were 8 guys consistently throwing over 100.

Bah.  A Washinton team won the series.  They're a Washington team.

No, it's bullshit.  It's perfectly fine to have a statue or monument somewhere outside of the stadium to commemorate past glories of a different franchise that happened to be in that city.  But to put flags up on the stadiums is claiming someone else's past glory is sad at best.

Do the Twins also have those flags up there?  Because that would be funny...almost as funny as the Nats claiming the 1933 American League Championship.

This is an amazing find, I cannot wait for my dad to see this.  He has wanted to see film of this since he was a little kid.  I once spent time hunting around for the radio call just to discover there were no recordings of Radio Baseball Games before Game 7 of the 1934 series in existence.

Forecast is calling for substantial and sustained rains in Baltimore all day Friday, throughout the afternoon and well into the evening, impacting game time.  May even get rained out.

Is it just me or does it feel like we're already in extra innings?
