Reds lost in 12 innings, and the Brewers are about to lose to the Phillies which will put them just 1.5 games ahead of the Cardinals.  So if the Cardinals can complete a 4-game sweep of the Pirates tonight at home, that will put them just--

I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

A group of us here (i.e., several Reds fans and me) were going to try to do a road trip for that series, but it fell apart when each of us had other plans pop up.  I'm going to be in Tennessee around that time :(

Goddamned Reds.  They had one job to do last night: beat the Brewers and put the Cards in sole possession of first place.  I figured with Latos pitching and the Brewers in a slump they had a decent chance.  And they might have had their fielding not gone completely to shit. 

And since I mentioned the Cardinals, they will probably lose tonight.  I swear the last 5 or 6 times I posted about them, they lost their next game.

I don't know Valmy, the Sporting News might have a point. I had dinner with Ryan Howard last night, and he shared the idea that stats like batting average and on base percentage are irrelevant.

Also, he made a compelling case that some of the rules. For example, how is it fair that you need four balls for a walk but only three to strikeout? Seems like it could be part of a pro pitcher bias.
