Guess what time of year it is! And since I'm sick, I thought I'd throw this out there.

A friend of mine gave me a jar of lemon-ginger-honey concoction to mix with hot water a few times a day. It, like any herbal tea, helps for a little while because of the heat, but doesn't seem to have any lasting effects. I hate taking OTC meds because they dry you out but don't otherwise make you feel any better.

I tend toward the steam/hot teas & fluids/rest method of dealing with a cold.

Bourbon.

I should have put a hot toddy on there, too. A good whiskey heated with a bit of spices in it.

I've been sick as a dog all weekend as well.  I can only take the Coricidin HBP, though.  I miss my TheraFlu, but it jacks my BP up something fierce.

I prefer won ton soup over chicken noodle.  Extra scallions open your sinuses like flooding the Three Gorges.

Beer, a sovereign remedy against all ills

I've had only one cold in the past decade or more though, so don't really have a remedy as such.

My daughter and co worker were both sick all last week.I am fine so far.

Hot toddies - lemon, whisky, honey and hot water.

Also a remedy that even an ill single man can be arsed to make.

I made this amazing avgolemano Ramen soup last night.

Put water on to boil. Take a package of chicken Ramen noodles and break it up into a bowl. Toss in the spice packet and some extra hot sauce (I like the liquid hot spice instead of the flakes). Whisk an egg up in a separate bowl. When the water comes to a boil, pour enough into the bowl to cover the noodles. Stir in the egg. (If you'd prefer the soup to be a little thicker, you can put the bowl into the microwave for about :45 seconds to cook the egg a bit more.) Add two tablespoons of lemon juice, and stir.

Omnomnomnomnom! :mmm:

Chicken soup and alcohol, though the latter tends to double my symptoms the next day.

Other than that, I take individual meds suitable for the particular symptoms I'm suffering - painkillers, decongestants, dry/tickly/chesty cough etc. - no two colds are alike!

My son and I have been sick for the past 5 days, this is bullshit.  Felt like I was drowning in mucous last night.

I think drinking lots of fluids is the most important step to take.

I like to add a couple of cloves; a habit I picked up in Co. Clare.

Yeah, I've heard that helps quite a bit, too, but you can't really add too many.
