Meh, by 1989, they were permanently insufferable.  But there was a whole lot of Steve Young hate when he started over Montana and until he finally got his own ring, and even then they still bashed him for not getting to more Super Bowls when Dallas and Green Bay were cockblocking them COZ JOE WOULDA DID IT.

After a stellar career at BYU, he signed a $42 million contract (still being paid in annuities) and spent two seasons with the USFL's Los Angeles Express.

After trying all season, Steve Young was finally able to buy his way out of the USFL. He went on to a Hall of Fame career in the NFL, and still receiving $1,000,000 a year from an annuity purchased by a team in a league that hasn't played a down of football in a quarter-century. Presumably, the annuity will continue to pay him until 2026.

Definitely one of the smartest QB law school grads ever.
