QuoteWith the predictable image that American football is a guy obsession, come these unpredictable stats: 40% of the National Football League's (NFL) fan base is women, making it one of the largest and fastest growing female fan bases in all of sports in the US. Each weekend 45 million women watch NFL games and 375,000 attend games in person. They also spend more than $150 million on fan apparel including handbags and interior wear. For an illuminating story by a die-hard female fan on what is it about the NFL that attracts women, see Queens of Sunday in American Way magazine.

My two oldest sisters are both passionate Steelers fans. And my middle sister's mother in law, a prim and proper Catholic lady in her late 70s, got completely shitfaced when the Steelers won the Super Bowl in 2005, drunk calling her whole family from her retirement place in Florida.
I am, somehow, less interested in the weight and convolutions of Einstein's brain than in the near certainty that people of equal talent have lived and died in cotton fields and sweatshops.

Did she call the refs to thank them as well?

You got your own problems, pal.

Where?

I know the correct answer, but I want to hear you say it

HD cameras for team video is really paying off for the NFL. They're using their shots more & more for replays, and they're not grainy as shit like when they used betacams.  4K cameras are just around the corner.

I'm not going to feed into your irrational Ref/NFL Conspiracy Paranoia.

Thing is, they're still not evenly distributed across all league games.  Primetime broadcasts like this and MNF will have more in place than, say, Seattle-Arizona.

You don't have to.  The world watched the Seahawks get hosed.  And it's still waiting for Santonio Holmes' other foot to come down against Arizona as well.

NFL Properties gets what NFL Properties wants.

I'm actually talking about the team video cameras, which are in end zone and sideline (way up high) for every game.  The network has a feed from those cameras, and will occasionally use it for replays, particularly wide-angle stuff.

Cheap league bastards.

Either that, or they value the work of true video professionals, the unsung heroes of the NFL  :showoff:

Ravens receivers are too tired to even fully complain about supposed missed calls.
