Have any of you guys heard of this? Max and I have a few friends who are fighting in this. It's a hell of a lot of fun to watch.

More info from Wiki:

QuoteThe Battle of the Nations is an international historical medieval battles world championship, first held in 2009,[1] and held in Europe in April every year since. It is a full contact competition, using metal weapons, and a standardized list of rules.[2] National teams in HMB compete at the championship in several standard nominations, including "Triathlon Duel", "Professional fights", "5 vs 5", "21 vs 21" and "all vs all". All battles are full contact, no stage reenactment battles are organized at the championship. In 2012 25 teams representing 25 countries entered the tournament [3]

Yesterday, upon the stair,
I met a man who wasn't there
He wasn't there again today
I wish, I wish he'd go away...

The battle of the Nations occurred 200 years ago.  The Sixth Coalition won.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

The USA team is going up against Poland in 21 vs 21 right now.

EDIT: I lied. It's USA against Belarus. My bad. We got spanked. :(

Digging the striped livery, but did we just get our asses kicked by Poles?

EDIT: Just saw Meri's edit.  Guess that's not so bad. :D

Belarus

Coming up soon: Poland and Russia

They're the two teams to beat. Russia has won every year for the last three years, and they LOVE to let everyone know that. They pitched a fit when the US wanted to include a team, saying that since the US didn't have a medieval history, we shouldn't be allowed. :D

Did you see how many guys were laying on the ground after? Last year, Russia broke more bones than any other nation. (As in broke the bones of other nations... not their own. ;))

Ukraine and Italy up next.
