Well, there is a debate in Poland over the recent statistics about Poles shopping more at discount stores (Lidl, Aldi, Jeronimo Martins' "Biedronka") etc. The opposition right wingers argue this is yet another proof of Poles getting poorer, while the main stream/pro-PO media argue this just means Poles are getting smarter.
:hmm: I wonder which explanation is true?

Assuming the quality is comparable to that in normal department stores, do you shop at discount stores (such as Walmart or Lidl)?

We shop at the Vast Jewish Conspiracy Discount Warehouse.

We don't really shop at discount stores, no. Most of our food shopping is done at the smaller grocery stores within walking distance of our house. They're usually cheaper than the nearby mid-market grocery store (IGA), though we do go there as well. The serious discount groceries are out of reach, since we don't drive anywhere - I reckon we save more on not having a car than on buying Walmart vegetables and 48 packs of TP or whatever.

For clothes, on the low end my wife mail orders stuff from China online (very cheap) all the way up to clothes at LV et. al. (though a lot less now that we're paying a mortgage on a Vancouver house vs. when we had the condo). The Bay in downtown Vancouver has been renovating and going upscale while still having reasonable prices on most everyday stuff, so that's captured my wife's loyalty. For me, if I'm indulging in clothes purchases (again, something that's cut back right now because of the house), it's usually from the nearby smaller stores as well.

So the short answer: no, not really. It's not practical for us.

For some reason the ground beef at the standard grocery store is shyte so I get it instead at Fairway, the trailer park grocery.

No. I would, especially at Lidl, but in the UK they're really for people who buy in bulk in a weekly shop with their car. So it's not an option for me. I often use local markets for home stuff though.

Yeah, sometimes I guess.  I picked up a fishing license from Walmart a couple months ago.  Target is a good place fo sho.

It's good for you.

But don't worry, I'll get a car soon enough.

I go to Wal-Mart for nearly everything. Even picked up my monitor there.

I go to WalMart when the fat ugly girls I look at on a daily basis are just not enough and I need that extra boost.
