Why is it that these cults always invariably go in for child-brides? Jew, Muslim, Christian, Mormon, makes no difference - first thing they do, is go for the child-brides.

Easier to control than an adult, probably.

And indoctrinate...  When they've internalized their shackles there's no problem later on to make them wear burqas and other tent like outfits.

I would have accepted 'horny bastard old dudes who hanker after young flesh and use religion as their excuse to indulge' as well ...  :D

Newly-religious  women walking around covered head-to-toe in black clothes are growing  in numbers. Even six-year-old girls are made to hide their faces. Haredi  rabbis finally condemn growing trend

like the Mormons, actually,

That is absurd.

Mormons don't typically import young girls to marry older men.

Even supposing you are referring to the fun and exciting offshoots out in the desert, their young girls are typically local produce.

QuoteThe records stem from the sensational 2008 raid on the Yearning for Zion ranch, a polygamous compound run by the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, or FLDS, near Eldorado. Residents of Bountiful are also followers of the FLDS, which, unlike the mainstream Mormon church, still practises polygamy.
I'm not sure why I wear the hat of 'Defender of the Mormon Faith' so often around here, but once again... no.  The FLDS is like a bunch of crazies that have been disavowed by the mainstream LDS Church.  This is the same thing as saying all Christians are apocalyptic lunatics that stockpile machine guns because David Koresh was.

I tought all Mormons supported poligamy albeit not "officially"?  Wasn't there some tv show about polygamy in a mormon "family" once?

The official Mormon church does not promote polygamy. That's something only the offshoots do.

Lord help us if people begin assuming that ordinary Jews are into the OP article group's antics.

Because you think they don't?
Unfortunately, they do.  The Orthodox Jews of Outremont (in Montreal, the guys who change street side when they see someone not from their community) are often seen as "The Jews".  It's hard to convince people there isn't a single "Jew" but rather many "Jews" like there are many Christians.  I guess the other, non traditional Jews, like the Bronfmans were seen simply as English and not Jews.

Bad enough that your ordinary average Orthodox type gets confused with the real nutters in the OP.  But *all* Jews? Ouch.
