Ugh.  Everyone loves that fucking movie.  I mean, I get it.  It's arty with the appearance of depth.  But it's so slow and dull, and such an exercise in choosing-your-own-symbolism that it doesn't even bother working at anything close to a literal level.  Unlike, say, The Incredible Shrinking Man.

I liked Sexy Beast ok, though.

Under the Skin :w00t:  :o

Edit: I'll have to read the book now

Yeah...that was a strange flick. Scarlett's nudity helped my enjoyment.

True Detective. It was great even with
the weakish ending
.
Women want me. Men want to be with me.

Finally saw the last Hobbit movie.  Way to much Legolas.  It was weird, there's this huge epic battle going on and we kind of forget it about it as we see some other guys fight on a mountain.  It isn't helped by the fact the whole thing could have been done in thirty minutes and been part of just one Hobbit movie.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

I dunno.  They're both pretty great.

Anyway, thanks to Korea's endless LotR marathons, they're flicks I can more intellectually understand to be good than actually appreciate as such.  I saw them all in the theaters, but if I never see them again, it'll be too soon.

I've refused to engage with the Hobbit films entirely.

Aye, that movie accomplished the extraordinary feat of being even more bloated than the previous two.

I liked the first two Hobbit films, sure I'll like the last one too.

Is Empire worth watching?

Yeah, it's a good film. For me probably worth a 2nd viewing in a few months time.

So I was on orders for 28 days and traveled halfway around the world and back, this included many flights including some very long international ones, also included long hours sitting in airports. Add to that 5 days of waiting for actual work to start in a base with little to do. I made a conscious effort to watch as many movies as I could. In no particular order other than as I remember them and looking at my movies:

Birdman
Gone Girl
Lone Survivor
Noah
The Wolf of Wall Street
Absolute Power
Captain Phillips
Neighbors
R.I.P.D.
Snow White and the Hunstman
The Monuments Men
Machete
12 years a Slave
A Good Old Fashioned Orgy
Lincoln
The French Connection
Bucket List
Grindhouse Planet Terror
Bangkok Dangerous
The Judge
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
Blood and Bone
Dracula Untold
Guardians of the Galaxy
Moulin Rouge
Nightcrawler
The Equalizer
Valkyrie
Zero Dark Thirty
The Worlds End
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Specific scenes only:

Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny
Blues Brothers
