The GGs are a fraud.

Amen.  Gotta hold out for the People's Choice.

Golden Globes were last night, and not a peep from anybody.

Times like this Languish misses Habsburg, if only to gush over the latest period piece costume design.

I'm struggling to think of any movie this year that had impressive costume design, other than superhero films. Nothing like Gatsby or Her. Maybe Liz Banks wore something outre in Hunger Games 3.

I don't think there was anything earlier than Victorian, which is probably why Habs never bothered to chime in.  His leg is still quivering from Age of Innocence.

So glad to have this show back again. :) Season opener was really fun, though I'm a bit skeptical of a gay dude driving 2 hours one way, in the middle of the night, to have sex with someone high on molly.

From what I remember, she was mostly in drab black this movie.

The trailer for Jupiter Ascending looks really silly.

I don't think making Joaquin Phoenix look like Groucho Marx should be enough for an Oscar in costume design(or makeup). I mean, it's mostly there already.

Grand Budapest Hotel won. That's all that matters.

I find watching award shows to be tedious.
I've been surprised Marti isn't gushing over that show.

Not that I've seen many this year, but yeah.

Red Carpet Winners were: Diane Kruger, Salma Hayak, Katherine Heigl and, of course, Helen Mirren.  See? Who needs Habs after all.

Her's a triumph of low-key costume and production design.  Don't you dismiss it.

Money: there've been a few.  Belle, for example.  It looks pretty good, but it's not special.

Garbon: there were two good things about those dumb movies. <_<

It's a triumph of silliness over plausibility. Which would be ok if it was supposed to be funny.

JR: K.K. Barrett was nominated.  But he was up against Catherine Martin.  What else was gonna happen?

While browsing Netflix when bored, I stumbled upon The Almighty Johnsons.  I'm rather enjoying it.  It's a show from New Zealand that features a family who are all mortal incarnations of the Norse gods.  They're shabby human versions though, so they're on a quest to eventually get their legit powers back.  There's humor, a splash of nudity, decent enough acting, and an amusing premise.  I recommend it to all who heed the word of Hod. :)
