Yeah, 4 mph is a swift walk for those with long legs.
And a death march for the rest of us :P

Did 40 mins as per schedule today plus some core work and stretching. In deference to the freezing drizzle, jogged to the gym and did most of it on the dreadmill.

Finally figured out a way to stop the knee pain from happening.

I slowed down the machine a little when I start to feel it.

Then I turned it back up a bit after a while.  Rinse and repeat.

I broke the "no variation in speed" rule though :weep:

Call it an interval session instead. Good for speed, cardiovascular fitness and losing weight :)

Well, I knew brazen would have started this thread. How about if my goal is to walk and/or run at least 3 times a week? Yeah, that should be a good goal, get back to running.

Every year I do this, and every year I fail. :(

This year will be different any number of ways, though, starting with I now have a job that requires that I be on my feet and moving for roughly eight hours a day, rather than sitting on my bum at a computer. In addition, there will be a good bit more traveling that will require heavy lifting to get things set up and ready to go.

So, with that additional exercise from work, my only real goal is to cut back on portion sizes, increase fruits and vegetable servings, and limit sweets. The last may be difficult since I work in a candy factory, but the rest should be easy enough.
Yesterday, upon the stair,
I met a man who wasn't there
He wasn't there again today
I wish, I wish he'd go away...

It makes me giggle when Americans say "bum". Now say "rubbish" :)

Are you looking at my bum? Bum-looker! Cheeky monkey!
To sleep, perchance to dream. But in that sleep of death, what dreams may come?

Reduced mileage long run this week. Six hilly miles walk/run. Very slow, but wasn't exhausted at the end and took the hills in my stride. Most of the niggling pain from when I started training in earnest have gone now.

Despite my best efforts (including a couple of pints of Guinness, pizza and red wine yesterday) I'm still losing weight - 4lbs since the beginning of the Christmas break. Being vastly overweight does mean the old calories burn off quickly.

My friend and I have decided to work out one hour every morning. We'll be using Jillian Michaels' DVDs, Dance Your Way to Fitness, Yoga, and a few other tapes. The idea is to mix it up so that we're not doing the same thing over and over again, and so that we don't get bored.

By the way, she introduced me to Comcast On Demand - and it's wonderful! Even if she's not here, I can find a fitness show to follow along with. Yay!

I am thinking about trying Pilates. Tough to find the time though, since I am gone 3-5 nights a week doing basketball games though.

Isn't 3-5 nights a week of basketball games pretty damn good exercise?

Yeah, but it is only one particular type of exercise.

Only managed 20 minutes of my scheduled 40 minute treadmill run today due to what I shall euphemistically refer to as "digestive distress"...
