No call, I got to yell.
Do you supervise union monkeys or something?  I mean... who doesn't bother to call?

Don't do it. Leisure time turns you socialist. Fact.

I'm wearing my GOP underwear.

Should be a speedo for the full Euro experience.

That'll be me all next week. I'm thinking of putting a game or two on my USB and playing it during work.

GF, end of the year almost always sucks for accountants. My wife hated the schedules. And Sarbannes-Oxley.

We had two internal audits this year, one internal SOX pre-audit in September, a Pricewaterhouse year end pre-audit in November, plus a Pricewaterhouse SOX audit. In January they'll be back for the actual audits.

SOX is great work :D or at least, good business :p

Re snow days... ppl are expected to get up earlier if snow is expected, but most employers have the possibility to work from home, at least office work.

Question for the Yuros: how does your place of work treat snow days?

I remember just one such day in 27 years. We got to work at 6:45 without excessive difficulties, but the situation became increasingly worrying and we received 'all hands abandon ship' orders at 13:00, i.e. two hours before our usual schedule. It was far too late, we should have left at least one hour before, if not two (a few smart and/or daring fellows actually did so) but our bosses kept expecting orders from the top brass. By 13:00 traffic had collapsed and anyway it wasn't smart to use cars, so we walked on the snow about 30 minutes to reach the nearest railroad station. And it kept snowing, just to make things more interesting.

I couldn't complain, I had warm clothing and good shoes, but some persons used to drive from home to work and back without stepping outside for more than 30 seconds weren't prepared at all, I remember some girls tying plastic bags to their feet (remember this, kids, high heels and snow don't go well together) We were really a motley crew, 'à la Retraite de Moscou'. In fact, and for the whole Russian Campaign experience, I helped push two or three vehicles that had got stuck in a slope and were blocking tens of cars behind them. Luckily, trains still worked, and very efficiently. I reached Atocha station in Madrid packed like a sardine in a can but much sooner than I would have expected.

It does look rather beautiful on the trees, though, especially if it snowed.
But yeah, it is incredibly dangerous, and tends to cause power outages, so not so much fun.

Question for the Yuros: how does your place of work treat snow days?

Snow days are only snow days if there's a full storm on, and even then I wouldn't expect to be able to call my boss and complain about there being too much snow to go to work.

It's a preposterous idea, and you weak and decadent americans are that much more ridiculous for it.

You're from frickin' Sweden, of course you can deal with snow.

And Cal, 2 feet of snow in New England is a lot. Most jobs would definitely cancel for the day, and school would probably be out two days.

Faye: Ordinary. The kind of beautiful, dangerous ordinary that you just can't leave alone.
Jet: I see.
