That is good news.  I was surprised to hear him make that statement.  Seemed awfully tone deaf.

A lot of it is just messaging.  Government is up against it in that there's not a lot left to close, and what is still open all seems fairly safe.  The spread is largely from social gatherings which have been banned for months.  It's "just" a matter of getting people to take this disease seriously for a little while longer.

Yesterday was the first day where Germany vaccinated more than one million persons (1st + 2nd dose combined), about 1.3% of the population. Finally some progress.

My brother is taking advantage of Berlin's policy of offering AZ to everyone. He'll get his first dose a month or two before I do (and I'm 5 years older).

Brazil's offical death toll has now passed 400,000, at least 100,000 of those in the month of April.

India goes to hell in a disorganised handcart, today hitting a record high for cases and deaths, which are officially around 3.500 per day.

Unofficially, who knows?  I saw a news report following a manager in charge of a crematorium in Dehli, the Sikh gentleman said he normally gets 10 cremations to do per day, today it was one hundred and ten.  :(

I saw a similar report, the manager said he usually did 7 or 8, and he'd already done 55 by noon that day.

What's grim about India is that the people who can't get any medical assistance now were infected a while back. The people infected this week, they'll need the same medical assistance in around 7-10 days.

My brother in law is now on a ventilator. His wife just went to the hospital today as well. Pretty grim. They have two kids, fortunately her brother is staying with them already (he had a mild case and recovered).

I hope it works out well for him, after alll the medical procedures and knowledge have significantly improved since the first wave when medics were learning as they went.

My brother is still on a ventilator. But he seems to be making some progress.

Some good news: the wife was discharged from the hospital after tests and is now back home.
