I worry about Reddit.  While it is a useful place for discussing obscure interests that you might have because of the wide user base, I've noticed that it tends to be the same kind of poorly-considered rage-bait that fills most social media.  The upvote/downvote structure tends to reward the most over-the-top, insane statements.
I do not hate you, nor do I love you, but you are made out of atoms which I can use for something else.

I also saw the daily mail reported that the likely order is to say that a legislative proposal to abolish the department should stat being created. Something Trump could do without using an executive order. :D

I have tried, it is difficult when the news ticker from news agencies are among one's duties.

I can't not follow the news.

I will say I do find it more grounding to go and follow more local, or even national news (if you're not American).

Heard on NPR that he's pausing the tariffs for 30 days.

My most reliable news source for all things American Politics is Heather Cox Richardson's "Letters From An American" which she publishes daily on her Facebook and substack (https://heathercoxrichardson.substack.com/). She usually offers a very good overview of the days event, connects some dots together and at times link them to history. She is/used to be an historian before starting her Letters during Trump 1.0.

And before you jump on me. I used to be on Pdox forums before the Great Migration. Mostly on the Franco. I never really participated in the Anglo, but used to lurk there. A bad habit I kept afterwards and then forgot about for a while. Been back for a couple of years now  :lmfao:

I'll go back to the shadows. I just wanted to share that great source as news channels and other socials are just not doing it this time around. Thought you all might appreciate it. They ignored Mux and his DOGE kids for too long this weekend.

Also follow Rebecca Solnit for news, but that might be too militant for some of you.

El Salvador to accept US deportees of any nationality, as well as imprisoned Americans, in unprecedented deal

So, American prisoners can now be deported to El Salvador, in exchange for a "fee".

Violent American prisoners.

Like protesters?

Seems like the Handmaid tale is real.

So declining birth rates in the west is one of the biggest long-term threats to society as a whole  (I'll add climate change as maybe the other one).  We definitely need to address it.

But what the fuck does DOT funding have to do with birth rates?

It is a traditional stick.

The Feds used DOT funding to pressure all the states to raise the drinking age to 21 for example. But I guess drinking at least has something to do with transportation. It is why for awhile Louisiana received no federal DOT funding.

Well...fortunately for most of those places they probably don't need much DOT funding anyway. Though Oregon might want to step it up.

But if marriage rates are going to be taken into account, then Nevada is going to get a shitload of federal funds.

I like others have similar feelings.

I think I'll right to the bbc to get a redesign of their news website, you know the tabs at the top have or had extra ones for Ukraine, Covid-19, Cost of living and so forth, they could have a one for all the Trump stuff and just label it Bullshit.
