Lou Dobs is one of about five guys too crazy for Fox.

I remember him from the Gulf War days on CNN. What happened?

Who or what is Justin Amash?
he was the only GOP representative to call for impeachment hearings. From Michigan with Libertarian leanings. Apparently AmScip has known him/his family (?) since way back in day.

Putting principle before short-term self-interest? Clearly not a modern politician.

He is a very principled politician and quite a darling when he was taking his principled stand against Obama. Now he is hated since he did not instantly drop all this nonsense about liberty and the Constitution once the GOP took power like the rest of the fraudulent "Freedom Caucus". I am not sure whose freedom they are defending, certainly not American Citizens'.

Anyway I don't agree with him much, I think most of his views are a bit too inflexible for my tastes, but I always really respected his takes. I mean I don't disagree with him, I just think his ideas would not work in practice.

From Trump's 4th of July speech:

Quote"The Continental Army suffered a bitter winner at Valley Forge, found glory across the waters of the Delaware and seized victory from Cornwallis of Yorktown. Our Army manned the air, it ran the ramparts, it took over the airports, it did everything it had to do."

I'd laugh, but this level of stupidity in a national leader is more terrifying than funny.  :(

I thought it pointed out how advanced the British were. They created airports in the colonies so far in advance of the invention of planes.

They were easily beaten by the US troops, though, who "manned the air"!

The Minsky Moment

People mock Trump, but American control over the airports played an underrated but crucial role in the war for independence.  The Saratoga campaign could have easily gone the other way, but key British reinforcements were held up at the LaGuardia baggage claim after patriots took control of the handler's union.

Trump really does have a talent for convincing people to sacrifice their reputations and self-dignity to please him.  What makes someone like Rudy or Bill Barr say to himself - I have had a long and successful career, the respect of most my peers.  What I really need to do now in the twilight of my professional life is completely ruin the entire professional reputation I spent a lifetime building.

Rudy got dinged again and again for admin jobs and still abased himself for Trump.  Barr was already AG under a real President and was making real money, what did he need this job for?

It seems to be because Trump offers the occasion to transform the Republic into something more in line with their authoritarian views.

Is it odd that the President is using the Justice Department to protect his business?
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

There's now a spat going on over the UK ambassador's private assessment of the Trump 'administration'

Trump has doubled down and will refuse to see/work with him, whilst at the same time taking an undignified swipe at departing PM May.
