what ever her book may be, trying to stay out of the limelight ain't it.

With all the crazy shit going on these days I find that hard to buy. She could defect to North Korea and it wouldn't steal much limelight.

What the hell kind of ethnic food would you have to eat to defecate to North Korea?

Hillary wrote another book nobody is going to read. Not sure how that is keeping in the news. Writing self-justifying books is what retired generals and politicians do. Would she playing shuffle board on the senior cruise also be too much?

Please, they all do it.  Nixon published two books on foreign policy after he died, ffs.

Not at all,  There will continue to be disarray hurting the party for a period of time.  But at some point, leadership will emerge to set things on a new course.  GOP may take a beating in next year's mid-terms.  We may have a Democrat win the White House in 2020.  Or President Pence could step up and stabilize things.  Who knows?  But the GOP will recover, and probably faster than a lot of you would hope.

Several times after big elections in the past three decades we've heard how the GOP or Democrat Party is in shambles, dead, out of power for a generation, etc. but each party always seems to recover.

The GOP will recover? How will it recover from ruling the US as a soft-Fascist party as Minsky outlined?

Huge Dem win in 2018, certain voices get discredited. That's the hope anyway.

I'm not seeing the signs, but here's hoping.

One of my personal bellwethers on this is seeing derspiess vote Democrat in 2018. I rate the changes of that very low, but I think for the current trajectory of the GOP to reverse it'll need some of the hardcore GOP voters who dislike Trump to send a clear signal to the party.

Like I said, I'm not seeing the signs.

What would the signs look like at this point? Spicey is never going to vote Democrat under normal circumstances but he did not vote for Trump and I suspect would support other Republicans against his cronies.

When his pool of other candidates shrinks would he ever vote democrats? If not then the crazies will have taken over the GOP.

He would probably vote 3rd party.

He already did vote 3rd party and it wasn't enough.

That's kind of the point. If Trump's shenanigans so far is not enough to convince derspiess to vote for the Democrats to send a message in 2018, then no such message will be sent to the GOP. So like I said, while I can see the hope is that the nation will send a strong rebuke to the GOP over Trump in 2018, I consider it unlikely. If spicy is not moved to vote constructively against Trump, then none of the people further to the right will abandon the GOP.

I mean, it's only a heuristic of course. But where do the ones hoping for a 2018 turn against Trump see the votes coming from?

My hope is that a real Republican will be the party's nominee in 2020.  Probably won't happen, but we'll see.
