Sorry to hear, was it Trump?

Cadiz is probably even worse with heat, so hopefully we won't have to go there to experience one.

Cadiz is actually very pleasant. It gets refreshing ocean breezes.  There are wide boulevards that are lined with large wonderful trees and large treed public spaces.

I highly recommend even in the summer months.

In several surveys, the overwhelming first choice for what makes Canada unique is multiculturalism. This, in a world collapsing into stupid, impoverishing hatreds, is the distinctly Canadian national project.

Which reminds me, when the iron mine that became LKAB was starting up a new town was built from scratch, so they brought in a French architect that designed it with wide boulevards so the refreshing wind could get full access.

Kiruna. 200 km norr of the arctic circle.

Paris' wide boulevards are there to keep Parisians from barricading streets and ambushing soldiers. Basically easier for 19th century armies and cavalries to mow down the rabble . Pretty though :P

The uprising was crushed, but not by him.
Thiers, a veteran of French politics, did it.

Tomorrow we're off. I had planned on doing some posts about our preparations, but preparations and work has had me stressed out ot the max.

Apparently French laws on overweight are irrationally strict, so our motorhome has been on a strict weight-loss diet. I removed the shower cabin, any unnecessary pillows, dismantled ventilation, changed outside tables and chairs, removed bicyclefasteningthing. Managed to save some 40-50 kg of unnecessary stuff.

So naturally the wife decided we need to have bikes with us, so I hade to buy light-weight foldable ones and re-add 57 kg of bicycles.

And then I had to do an AC installation. I bought a cheap one in a store and some ventilation ducts and now we have access. 21 kg.

By my calculation we'll be about 134 kg over-weight when leaving home, plan on being 17 kg under-weight when we turn to home from Spain, so we'll be able to bring 12 bottles of wine. This'll be achieved by having less water in the 120 l tank, less diesel, less clothes and food, less gas and some other minor things.

No idea about overweight laws for motor homes, but I believe overweight rules targeted mostly (crazy) tuning fans.

Threviel

Ahh, I think the probability of us getting weighed are very very small, but last time we went we were probably 4-500 kg overweight, and I want to avoid that this time.

I talked to a Swedish guy working with the police on these kind of weighing controls and according to him they don't even care if you're 1-200 kg overweight. As you say, motorhomes are probably not the prime target for the laws.

The car itself is a German import, when it originally registered in Germany it registered as a 3850 kg vehicle, here in Sweden it's registered for 3500 kg. So mechanically I don't worry the slightest.

Yeah well, Napoleon III was a Prussian prisoner long before the Commune came along.

But it does seem like the wide boulevards did their job. The Commune would have done much better with 1830 or 1848's street layout.

Excellent work there, Threviel.

iirc UK border police can be quite strict on arrivals, I guess mainly via Dover, do perhaps something to consider when traveling to England.  :bowler:
