It is looking like the plan for Trump to avoid having to concede he will give away more-than-Obama-billions to Iran is to just funnel it all through the UAE.

Omg if this is true then Iran is about to win.

QuoteWhat exactly's in the potential deal between the US and Iran as it stands?

Draft terms described to Reuters by multiple sources indicate the US would begin releasing billions of dollars in frozen Iranian assets and waive sanctions on its oil exports, in return for Iran opening the strait of Hormuz.

Iran's nuclear program would be addressed during a 60-day period of talks. A senior Trump administration official said the agreement would ultimately lead to the dismantling of Iran's nuclear program, with its stockpile of highly enriched uranium to be destroyed and removed.

The terms also include an inspection regime to ensure compliance over the long term.

But Iranian foreign minister Abbas Araqchi told state television that Iran, which sources said had not accepted the dismantling of its nuclear program, wanted to retain the uranium in diluted form. He said:

For Tehran, the only preferred solution for its highly enriched uranium stockpile is down-blending the material."

The proposals include discussion of possible war reparations for Tehran and dropping longstanding US demands for limits on Iran's missile program, Reuters quoted the sources as saying. The US official disputed that account.

The Americans were never going to get as Good of an agreement than what the Obama administration was able to obtain. When Trump cancelled that agreement this was more or less the inevitable result.

In several surveys, the overwhelming first choice for what makes Canada unique is multiculturalism. This, in a world collapsing into stupid, impoverishing hatreds, is the distinctly Canadian national project.

Since the White House knows absolutely nothing about dealmaking the US seems unlikely to get a good deal.

Fuckit, the eu could have gotten a good deal instead of that stupid trade deal we have now

The Art of the TACO.
The future is all around us, waiting, in moments of transition, to be born in moments of revelation. No one knows the shape of that future or where it will take us. We know only that it is always born in pain.   -G'Kar

I don't see why you say that.  Iran is being forced to take billions of dollars despite having a shortage of boxes to put it in.  In return they will have to spend 60 days in a room with Jared and Steve Witkoff. They must really be desperate to agree to that.
We have, accordingly, always had plenty of excellent lawyers, though we often had to do without even tolerable administrators, and seen destined to endure the inconvenience of hereafter doing without any constructive statesmen at all.

I still think a strong case can be made that with the payments for transit fees, overtime, in say 40 to 50 years, might offset the pain of those meetings

Still do not think those transitfees are sustainable long term though. Sooner or later one of other states is going to challenge that

Other states are going to try to enact transit fees/tolls of their own first, due to that precedent.
No, not Denmark and its Sound Dues.

The art of the deal, give Iran everything it wants before a final agreement is made.

Apparently up to 300 billion USD for reconstruction of Iran are part of the discussed agreement, if Iran fulfills its obligations. To be paid by the gulf states and the US. This was confirmed by JD Vance.

There is a great Peter Sellers movie back in the time before time called the Mouse that Roared.

It was about a fictional small European nation who went to war with the United States with the express purpose of losing the war so that they could get United States aid for reconstruction after the war.  It was a hilarious parody.

Spoiler alert.  During the invasion of the United States nobody took them seriously because the only military equipment they had was from the 18th century, but fortuitously, they found their way into possession of a doomsday bomb.

If true.

That's about twice as much as the Marshall Plan, considering inflation.
