There are several NSFW/NSFL videos of him getting shot, easily found on reddit or twitter.  I haven't watched them... He may be in critical condition and not dead, but apparently the close-up videos leave no doubt he must be imminently dead with a very bloody rifle shot to the neck.

Separate from this story but I find the casualness with which you can see extreme violence and its results (e.g. Gaza and Ukraine as well as this) on social media really grim. Especially with the "do not look away" exhortation. I'm with you - look away! I don't want to see it. People who do regularly (in Western societies) on news desks or in the police are given counselling because it's not good for us. But just out there - mangled bodies of children, people being shot.

With Kirk's murder I think the US is further along the path it started on a while ago. It's the natural progression.

I hope the people of the US can find a way to get off that path and change their course, but something like this happening is IMO completely unsurprising.

I just finished Turchin's End Times.  He predicts it's going to get worse until after 2030.  It certainly got worse today.

Of course we will survive, it's just not clear in what form.  The Russian empire survived as the Soviet Union.


The big difference between now and the 1960's is that we have a much greater level of inequality in wealth.  The system is imbalanced.

Reports seem to indicate that Charlie Kirk was shot from 200 yards away in the neck.  I know shooting accurately with a rifle is relatively easy, but that still seems like an incredible shot for an amateur to make, considering that you're not shooting at a paper target.
