*edit* looks like the shows ending in may 2026. Not renewing the contract I guess. How were the ratings beforehand? Truthfully never watched. Well maybe an episode or two, but then again the only late show I ever liked was Craig Ferguson's.

Ferguson is my all-time favorite, too. Colbert was the top rated show of the 3 by a fairly wide margin. I'm wondering if Trump demanded his firing as part of the merger bribe.

Yeah which makes it hard to imagine this wasn't political or lawsuit related.  I know there's a long list of assaults on democracies at this point, but America has always been a leader in the entertainment / free speech / political space.  Americas decline is becoming very dangerous indeed...

Hopefully someone else picks it up. It is the top rated show. Somebody is bound to value making money over appeasing Trump.

What's even crazier is that it's not just Colbert cancelled but the entire late show, which is basically an institution.

I've come to value Colbert as one of my preferred news sources during Trumps presidencies.  Might as well laugh while soaking all the madness in.
