I can't remember hearing about him trash talking the first 2 seasons.

He was producer on all seasons of Mandalorian (unlike Acolyte or Andor). He directed the very first episode, plus episode 5 (The Gunslinger) and the Episode in which Ahsoka first shows up in Season 2. I always had an impression that Mandalorian was a Favreau/Filoni project (with Favreau being in the driver's seat).

The prequels got a lot of hate but in hindsight I think they were pretty good actually.  You have to remember that Lucas always meant Star Wars to be an adolescent thing (or humour the kid in the adult).  The trilogy had a lot of good things about it including a nice political story arc for palpatine.  They also took us to new places we hadn't been in the originals,  had new ships making it feel like a different era, showed the Jedi at the peak of their powers.  Where they failed was in cringe dialogue and poor characters in many cases.  If Lucas was successful in getting a partner to direct/write I think those issues would have been corrected but instead we got a pure Lucas boy imagination output.

Episode 7 on the other hand took us back to a desert planet with emerging force user again.  It has the same x wings as before,  a new emperor like and Vader like figure, and a new Death Star that blew up republic planets from hyperspace this time despite us learning nothing of the new republic.  As a stand alone movie it was fun and all but they shot the whole series in the foot with that pathetic attempt.  I mean they had decades for someone to write a script and that's what they came up with?  Not to mention every fan wanted to see Luke as a proper master - even if it was in a small mentor role.  Instead Rey is simply the most powerful Jedi ever with zero training, which is a huge insult to the canon of Anakin being the chosen one, and Jedi getting powerful over time/experience.

So, basically, he was involved with everything except Andor and Skeleton Crew.  GF's comment does not really make sense.  Filoni has been involved with almost every SW project on tv.

The prequels are pretty good, yes, for a remake.  :P
Some ideas yes, but their execution is a disaster.

Doesn't it reinforces it? Most that makes it out is Filoni approved and or run.

He became Chief creative officer in mid 2023.
He wasn't in a position to block anything before that.

Imho, the SW fanbase is toxic as usual.  The same people piling female, asian and black actors for being female, asian and black.  The only black actor they'll tolerate is the one not seen.

That is true, there's fan faction for every sides and usually, all of them are wrong.

I like SW, not a big fan of any of the 9 Skywalker saga movies, but more importantly my son loves SW and it's something we bond over.

I understand the desire not to stretch things out, but I still think some storylines would have benefitted from a slightly longer development over an additional season, especially Meero closing in on Luthen Rael, or the short Saw Guerera subplot, contrasted with Mon Mothma. We saw, in a snippet, the devotion that Guerera was able to inspire: we didn't get the chance to see the sort of rebel leader Mothma could be.

Still, it remains an especially timely tv show, and it was treated amazingly well, especially considering the usual political fare from the US.

In case you forgot SW was always primarily to sell merch :D

I suppose since no one goes to the library anymore, it was more conspicuous that way. ;)

Say what you will, but they managed to perfectly cast Mon Mothma's aide who originally showed up in Star Wars Rebels for probably less than five minutes. :P
