Strong feelings among Chinese about the next DLC (flavor pack for India, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan). :D

I get the other stuff, but lizards???
Being lazy is bad; unless you still get what you want, then it's called "patience".
Hubris must be punished. Severely.

I just took a look at the new DLC India stuff.  That is profoundly weird.  The East India company just buying provinces?

QuoteYou can also use civilian factories to outright buy land. This is cheaper for the Indian subcontinent than say, a state in the USSR.

"I'm sorry Comrade Stalin, but the East India company has purchased Crimea.

You can also get "elephantry". I can just imagine wave after wave of elephant riders overrunning the Ruhr.  The silk road empire is also pretty damn weird

"I'm sorry, Comrade Stalin but the land now belongs to the camel caravans."
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

New DLC has a rating of 40% positive on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3796260/Expansion__Hearts_of_Iron_IV_No_Compromise_No_Surrender/
(I guess much of it is due to the price tag of 29.99)

Which I guess is an improvement over the last one which sits at 15%?

I think HoI4 development has reached its Wunderwaffe phase, and we just saw the Me-163 Komet of DLCs.

The Minsky Moment

That's really harsh.  The Liechtenstein focus tree was one of the best in years.  Improved money laundering tech, training for the soldier, the ability to sneer at the paltry Prince of Monaco, organizing sheep to blockade invading armor.  Once you try it out, it's impossible to imagine playing the game without it.
We have, accordingly, always had plenty of excellent lawyers, though we often had to do without even tolerable administrators, and seen destined to endure the inconvenience of hereafter doing without any constructive statesmen at all.

It's good, but not as great as the 5 Euro Allied Leader Speech Pack.  :lmfao:

Slightly mad that it's like 20 years and innumerable DLCs in before they do one for China/Japan
Let's bomb Russia!

Baron von Schtinkenbutt

10 years, and this is the second DLC that has addressed China and Japan.  The first was one of the first DLCs released, and is so old now it's part of the base game.

Oh okay - I withdraw my factless righteous outrage
Let's bomb Russia!

Have they updated the US focus tree yet? :P

Yes - there is one where America focuses on "greatness".  It switches sides and joins the Nazis.  You just have to wait to 2025 to trigger it though.

I never got the DLC, but the upgrade on its own seemed to jump the shark for me, I suddenly lost all desire to fire up the game.  I half-seriously expect a loot box mechanic to come in the next update.

I liked HoI4, and I partially applaud the reworking of a few focus trees into more "what if" scenarios, but they have become very convoluted, some of them.

That said, HoI4 still sports one of the ugliest maps in grand strategy.
