So a new guy started this week and put a picture of his wife on his desk. I glanced at it and noticed her head was tilted to the right about 45 degrees or so. So I got to thinking about this and realized this seems to be a very common way for women to pose for photographs now. I opened my facebook account and, sure enough, at least half of the women I'm friended with who have a headshot as their profile pic have posed in the exact same way.
Has it always been this way? Is this just an American thing? I don't notice men ever posing this way. Are they all trying to copy some actress who is famous for this pose or something?
That's because one side of a woman's brain (the shoe shopping part) is substantially better developed and heavier. This is exacerbated by the hot air filling the other side of the brain.
My question has been Flansered.
Its a hot angle. Men are recommended to look at a jaunty angle to appear less ugly too.
Showing neck as a sign of submission. "Bite me."

define jaunty
Anyway, do chicks do this in all countries? I was really curious about that part of my question too.
Myspace influence?

Sign of insecurity, me thinks.
You know when women don't seem to do it? When they're posing with a guy (typically their husband) in the shot, unless their head is tilted toward his. Again, these are Facebook observations. It must be some sort of "please fuck me" signal.
It goes back to basic mating biology. The further the head is tilted, the more desperate the woman is to enter a fecund stage and begin the basic sexual rituals. If you see a woman whose head is touching her shoulder, then she is in a rut, and if her head is upright then she is gravid - basic biology there, Cal, I'm surprised you didn't know.
So if I see a woman walking around looking like she has a kink in her neck, should I just do her a service and bend her over right then and there?

Interesting...
It's what many animals (esp. dogs) do when they submit to a stronger opponent.
Somebody pointed out I usually tilt my head in photos as well...I had never really noticed it.
Crap does that mean I am submissive and ready for sex?
Because I am ready for sex usually.

I have noticed that some men do this also, but FAR more women do it.
Most women are waiting for the vampire on a white horse to whisk them away.
The tilt and "webcam angle" eliminate a double chin. Next.

Oh yeah it does stretch the skin a bit. Good call.

Princesca gave the same answer, but I don't think this is right. She also pointed out that my mother does this, and my mother doesn't even know what a webcam is, doesn't have a double chin, and in fact has been doing this as far back as I can remember (though oddly I needed Princesca to say something to think about it at all in her case).
Also, the majority of women in my facebook sample who do this don't have double chins.
I routinely surround myself with midgets come photo time in order to appear to be a giant among men.

Of course they don't LOOK like they have double chins. They tilt their heads.

Actually Brazen and capturedfairy are my only female facebook friends I've never met IRL.
I'll keep this in mind for my pornography business.
STOP TILTING YOUR HEAD!

half of the pictures of women I see on the internet involve women rubbing their silicon tits. Is this an American thing? I don't notice men ever posing this way. Are they trying to copy some actress who is famous for this pose of something?

Speak for yourself slim boy. I'm fat and have more chins than any tilting or webcam angle could help.
My neck is crooked, so my head is a bit tilted, does that make me look 'purdy?

Cal, they might not actually have a double chin, but how many women have you met that are genuinely happy with their weight and appearance? They might be almost flawless but they can still think they have a double chin.
Brazen knows the score.
Do most women really think this or is it just a myth? If it's true, that's sad. :(
