Damn you guys have very liberal electoral laws. Only the Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians, and Greens ever get on the ballot in Texas.
PETA is running for President? That makes a dilemma for CDM.

Who votes for the Greens outside of the Austin area?

Oxymoron Party.
This Virgil Goode/Jim Clymer thing is listed as Independent American Party on mine. Must be my state's affiliate. But I'm pretty sure Nevada IAP and the Constitution Party are very different in ideology. Weird.
I'm gonna need a list of differences between the Socialism and Liberation Party and the Socialist Workers Party before I can decide on this one. :hmm:

Plenty of weirdos in Dallas and Houston as well. But it doesn't matter. The point is they jump through all the vast hoops the Democrats and Republicans have set up to keep third parties off the ballot.

Yea these are the only ones on the ballot here too. Guess that's why we live in "safe" states, huh?

Yet still manage to get around 1% of the vote or less generally. For the parties that can't even manage that, it's a greater disservice to make voters scroll past their names than to keep them off the ballot.

That's the trouble with the socialists...can't unite.
I remember in Toronto in the 90s (and possibly today) the ballot had, in addition to the main parties:
A Trotskyist Party
A Marxist/Leninist Party
A Socialist Worker's Party
and, of course, A Communist Party.
Felt sorry for the Maoists who didn't have their own party.

As a Maoist, I didn't know who to vote for.
Castro, of course.

I think Ohio's had the exact same candidates as Seedy's ballot.
I miss the days when there was a national socialist and a falangist on the ballot.
Got my first voter suppression phone call yesterday; lady wanted to inform me that the ballot for one of the local dog-catcher offices was printed incorrectly by the State of Maryland with an independent candidate's name (who's been running local commercials), told me to write in the name for the "correct" candidate instead.
I assume you verbally abused her.

I told her I was writing myself in, and there was nothing she could do to stop me now.
Our presidential ballot this year was a bit boring:
Joachim Gauck
Conservatives, Social Democrats, Liberals, Greens
Beate Klarsfeld
Commies
Olaf Rose
Nazis
The first guy got 80% of the vote, with another 8.5% abstentions.
Olaf gets my vote.
Well the President of Germany is an office with crazy amounts of power, I can see why the major parties are fighting tooth and nail for it.
:D
I only got the Spanish version of my sample ballot btw. It's ok, I can read it. But heh.
What do you get sample ballots for?
Quote from: Josephus on October 24, 2012, 09:30:48 AM
What do you get sample ballots for?
Because there are dozens and dozens of votes on any one ballot and it is nice to have so you can read up on the issues you are going to be voting for.
I just looked at my sample ballot and there is a party called Conservative and a party called Working Families. For each, their candidates are nearly identical to Republican and Democrat respectively. What a waste of space.

That's one of the advantages of mail-in ballots. In Washington, we do all elections by mail.

The negative - propping up a terrible org like post office.

Horribly inefficient and rude staff. If they were a private business they'd have been replace a long time ago.
My mailman (mailwoman) left me a nasty note because the bush under my mailbox was getting big. WTF shut up.

Eh I have used both them and UPS/Fed Express and I do not really see the difference except USPS is a tad cheaper.
The staff in Texas is really friendly but that is because the staff consists of Texans and not Californians and New Yorkers.

You missed Massachusetts. ;)
Anyway my point was really that most post offices I've been to have horribly rude and lazy staff. Not really had that when I've stopped at a Mailbox Etc or the like.

In Lubbock county I voted Green because the Democrats aren't even on the ballot for most positions.

Your logic is faulty. You just described most fast food and Walmart employees, yet they aren't going anywhere.

The postal workers here are really friendly, actually. Then again, everyone is generally friendly here.
Gary Johnson/James P. Gray, Virgil Goode/James N. Clymer, Jill Stein/Cheri Honkala all show as independents in the sample ballot I just pulled up online. http://www.sos.alabama.gov/downloads/election/2012/general/sampleBallots/shelby-2012-sample.pdf a bunch of the local positions only have one republican listed  Good ole paper ballots too.
I actually like Jill Stein. I wonder if she's on the Kentucky ballot. :hmm:
Just did early voting. We had Libertarian, Dems, Republican, & Green on the ballot.
