Why would you be a bully?

You're many things to many people, but I doubt a bully is one of them.

I think you are not a bully, but some thin-skinned people might think so. You are...abrasive.

I think you're comically rude and unpleasant, but you might have caused a handful of posters real offense.

Just so I'm clear, the first part is not a compliment.

Well, because I act like that sometimes in real life (over 12 years I've made some people cry at work). And after watching the last episode of Newsroom, I realized I sometimes act like Jeff Daniels on that show (and I have bouts of insomnia and stressful job etc.) and they called him a bully there. :P

Also, I was told some people at work are afraid of me.

couldn't we just have a "The Grand Is Martinus Special? Of Course He Is! Thread" thread which you could ressurect every month? Would be much more efficient.

No. you may try to be a bully, but aren't very good at it.

My guess is that they simply hate you, but being outranked by you, they stay clear of you.

I concur.  We should invoke the "Separate But Stupid" clause for Languish.

No, gays get bullied, they can't be bullies; just like blacks can't be racist.

We could just call it the "attention whore thread".

How would we know?

It's a pretty level playing field here in Languish, so the scope for what I would consider to be bullying is very limited.

Your office is different of course. If it is the tea-ladies and the receptionists who were crying then that would be bullying.

I don't doubt that you'd misuse anyone who you were placed in authority over or had leverage on, but 'bully' is the wrong word.

Yeah, I can imagine his coworkers taking a dim view of him but not for the reason he thinks.

I assume you're pointing out the double standard, but it's true that the necessary compliment to a bully is a victim who whines about it.  Without the whining victim the bully is just another asshole.
