Or more precisely, me and my boyfriend are getting two cats, preferably siblings, one to live with each of us and they will meet each other occassionally.
Chosen race: blue Russian.
Let the flaming commence.
Notification of cat's death in 2 months, tops.
Russian cats?!
You two are traitors to Poland.
So you want to have a Brain Disease?
Moving together, get an house with a yard, get a dog.
God damn urban living fostering to the Cat agenda.
Yards suck. They waste water and valuable time and money.
I would actually prefer a dog, but the problem with dogs is that they can't be left alone for most of the day without going nuts. Plus cats feel better in smaller flats and I won't be moving until December (at best).
So, as with my decision not to have kids, my decision not to have a dog (despite me wanting to) is dictated by my qualms about its well-being.

They will be atheist communist cats working for the world-wide Zionist conspiracy.
Blue Russians are so cute btw:

I guess you take relatively good care of your humans, so I have no specific objection to you getting a cat.

I have to voice concerns about how you and the other pillowbiter are going to have separate cats and bring them together from time to time; cats don't travel well, and if they're not cohabitating in the same environment, you're going to have hierarchy issues--even from cats from the same litter.
QuoteSo, as with my decision not to have kids, my decision not to have a dog (despite me wanting to) is dictated by my qualms about its well-being.
Good man. As much of a cat person as I am, I would love to have a dog, as I grew up with up; but condo living isn't meant for them. And it's not fair to keep them cooped up in a house when you're living alone and working 10 or 11 hours a day.
I mean, there are plenty of people around here with little doggies, but most of them are retired. The people, not to the dogs.

Well, what I really mean each of us is going to raise one cat but we can occasionally take them on visits - we won't swap them or anything.
If you don't name them "Ed Anger" and "CountDeMoney" respectively I will be: Dissapointed.
They will probably be named after famous gay communists.

That too, dogs were meant to roam free
Even if they are brother and sister, they are going to have major issues if they live in separate apartments, but are brought together for short periods of time. Plus as Seedy said Cats aren't great travellers.
One of you should get one cat that you can both look after. Or if you get two cats, they should stay together all the time so they have a close and stable bond relationship with each other.
And for all that is good and Holy get them fixed.

You already fail at being ghey, now you fail at being Polish; ffs the bitch partioned poland!!!
This makes me wonder, do you fail at lawtalking as well since things tend to come in threes...
Honest answer. I don't think Marty should get a cat.
The whole "they'll be playmates!!" separate-living arrangement is doomed to disappointment.
I predict Marty will get tired of his new toy and discard it within 6 months.
That goes for the cat, too.

Don't forget the part where the two cats failure to get along as playmates creates serious tension and doubts in the relationship.

Yeah well I am not outsourcing the mowing :P
But mainly the stupid Texas drought last year killed it. It is mostly dirt now damn thing.
Pave it. Live like a king of old.
The playmates thing is not central to the cat acquisition idea.
Each of us wants to get a cat. Period. Cats can meet other cats occassionally - this is not some trauma for them I believe. We are not planning for them to be "playmates" nor we think that there will be more likely to be playmates because they are siblings.
You guys latch at a single thing and then extrapolate from it some crazy stuff. Jesus.

Have fun with the feline, just don't have Brainiac style fun, and for god sakes don't give it some foofoo name like Seedy does.
foofoo names are fun!
For a girl, I suggest skitterleap, eclair, or sassafrass.
with dogs having them apart and bringing them together to play on weekends would work well. With cats though...yeah. Probally not. Don't see it working too well as a relationship binding thing. If you both want cats at the same time then good for you two but to get them as a cute set where you each have one...
