So who has played part 2? Freaking dark!
Played it over the weekend, guessed the plot right away, but fun, looking forward to part 3 around labor day :P
Oh yeah twist was pretty transparent, but still damn. And yeah they need to ramp up their release cycle!
Heh the darkness of it felt right in step with comics. Which in turn makes me curious for how producers/writers adapt season 3 of show as the time period in comics had some of the darkest stuff.
Episode 3 is supposedly due out some time today.
Says it dropped yesterday for PS3 and Xbox today.
Another thing that have to wait til after fair to play.
Episode 3 is out, though I'm not going to be able to play until later in the afternoon.
For those still waffling, the game is 40% off on Steam for the next several hours.

Boy you called that.
The writers really are a bunch of dicks. Spoilers :
"Carley will remember that." Yeah, for five seconds. LoL
Also, the fake-out with Clementine after that made me snicker.
Seriously that shit was ridiculous.
Anyway, I currently can't finish the episode.
Currently some glitches in the game. When talking to the hobo while he's playing guitar, it shows his guitar as if he's holding it but then his figure standing up blocking the screen! That was just a minor thing but now on the train after the shooting, world turns upside down and I can only see upside down trees if I try and walk out of the cabin towards the boxcar. Guess I gotta wait for a patch.
Episode 4 is out.
/falls over self to download and play
I only just finished the last chapter which I'd held off on because of the train bug.
Finally got around to playing this and though she still does some annoying kid things, I think Clem goes on my list of fictional kids that I don't hate. :D
5th and final episode is now out.
Crap, I figured it'd be out later than this. I was planning on replaying all the previous episodes in the, ah, "ideal" manner.

Yeah i wasn't expecting till right before xmas. just happen to see it while checking the Steam sale.
I picked this up in the sale today.
So, seems like TWD is a veritable hattrick - successful comic series, successful TV adaptation, successful game adaptation?
Excellent ending to the first season of this. I'm eagerly awaiting the next edition in February.
Is it scary?
That's a big blocker for me on games
Just started playing this and I died in the very first encounter with a zombie. You know, the tutorial with the
dead cop in the very beginning.
In the odd event of a real zombie apocalypse I'd be one of the first to die. :Embarrass:

I don't know. I mean the bit after the credits was alright but I wish this episode wasn't so forced - though I can understand that you need to shutdown a lot of the various threads in order to move into the sequel.

No, not really.
Excited to see some new content for July.

It's out, any one grab it yet?
No. I plan to pick it up but hadn't as I was out of town.
Got it, but I haven't even made it through all of the original game yet.
Beat the original game earlier this afternoon. It was: enjoyable.
Beat?
Yes. Got the secret ending where you get a machine gun and mow everyone down.
I don't think so.

What did you have the little girl do to you in the end.
BANG
This game is surprisingly wonderful. Clementine
That is a sad fucking ending is what that is.

Did you cry.
I came really close.
Why do you ask? Wasn't that kind of the point? :hmm:
Season 2 comes out today on PC, tomorrow for the consoles!
Alas, I will have to play it when I return from the West.
Anyone play it yet?
Yes sir.
Slowly gets you into new group that is full of drama and secrets.
Thus far a disappointment, TBH. Don't care for the new group.
I feel like the new group wasn't supposed to be sympathetic so far.
Besides, you spend most of the episode not even with them. On a side note, they went kinda dark in this one - though certainly not as much as with that cannibal family.

Side note, but does Clem really need to shout out hello every time she is alone? For a pretty world savvy kid, she does the dumbest things. -_-

I had some problems with it. I don't think it's realistic for an 11 year old girl to be as completely competent at certain things-like stitching her own arm-and I don't think all of the new characters are well drawn. The pregnant woman is terrible, and the stepfather-stepson relationship was a bit cliched and (spoiler) ended too quickly to be properly developed. I think the game looks great, though.
I'd agree with all of those
though the Clem one seems to be part of the issue I mentioned where they struggle to place her as her age when they need her to be rather mature in order to survive. I also couldn't help but be spiteful to the black woman as she was just dreadful.

The bitchy mother seemed to skirt racial caricature, which is weird considering that they seem to have previously gone out of their way to to make great African American characters; this is maybe the only game series I know where the two main protagonists are both black.

Well to be fair, she didn't get a lot of screen time - so maybe they'll do better if they flesh out her history/motivations.

It still has problems, though. Why were they so afraid of an 11 year old girl, even if she had a bite? You could have treated the wound with Clementine in an ad-hoc straightjacket. It really would not have been that difficult. Had they never seen Silence of the Lambs?

I think the other concern they expressed was about her being a spy for...Carver was it? I could see several years later trusting no one. Also, the stated reason for not treating her was that they didn't want to waste supplies. Seems fair enough given that there were at the least 2 years post the apocalypse.
I just finished Season 1.
I didn't shed any tears at the end, but there were more than a couple moments in the game that moved me. I don't remember any other game that I had any similar emotional reaction to in the past.
Anyone have any opinions of the S1 DLC, 400 Days?
I really *want* to like The Walking Dead. Just can't seem to get myself there, though.

Fairly short. Was a nice tide over till season 2 started up.
Ep 2 Season 2, out today.

I knew you were a horrible human being, but this?!?!
Meh.
The black woman wasn't terrible.
I liked the gay couple quite a bit.
Yes because gays are always kind to strangers. Too bad I saw them both die. Different note - Kenny was always such a pain the ass. :D

But genuinely sympathetic and extremely gifted at survival.

I'm just not nearly as interested in this "season." I love Clementine, but I'm not sure how completely realistic that an 11-12 year old girl would be the effective leader of a group and do all the essential tasks. I'm also much less invested in the plot. Maybe that's because I am playing the episodes one by one rather than binging, though.

I think that's you still holding on to negative feelings about episode 1. After all, while Clem is assisting (and clearly a bit more rational than some of the adults around her - see Nick), I think it would be a bit much to say she is the effective leader of the group and does all the essential tasks.
One other driver might be that we are now playing Clem rather than just seeing her react. There has to be some tension in giving the player options/not restricting us simply to child-like reactions which might account for her feeling more grown up now.
I still like the game but on the whole could care less about most of the new people. While I cared about the peoples in the initial two groups, don't quite have that with any of these new folks. Of course, on some level that mimics some of the alienation shown in the show where you have characters noting how people will inevitably keeping passing through their lives.

I guess that might be me. I tried to be as responsible as possible and attempt to build bridges at the lodge. There are more childish dialog options.

Yeah I took Nick quite to task after the bridge incident but then at lodge was much more deceptive/conciliatory (so hid photo from Nick but then confessed to Walter). Well apart from the getting Alvin killed by my rotten emotional choice. -_-
Next ep. tomorrow. :w00t:
This is one game I am seriously considering paying full price for, but between having to wait for the episodes to release and my aversion to paying full price I have not yet. I have come close a few times now though.

Well the full season 1 is out...though it looks pricier than I remember as initially it was available for $20 if you bought full season before all episodes were available.

Yeah I already finished Season 1, that's what makes me want to get Season 2 so bad.

Supposedly already though it isn't showing for me.
edit: Nevermind. It was just in-game bit that didn't work (still announcing that Episode 2 is available :D).
Shit just keeps getting darker. Did like the addition of GI Jane though. :D
Well. That wasn't that great.
You're just still sad that
Lee is dead
. :P
Of the Eps I can remember though, this one felt the most limited in scope. I didn't pick it the option when presented but I did have the whole vibe of I'm Clem who literally has to do everything.
Boring episode. I tried not to go along with their plans, but was pretty much forced to anyways.
Just thoughtlessly clicked through every action and movement.
Cool.
Played through Season 2 Episode 1 today, it was alright. I was a touch disappointed, but that is probably just because of expectations on my part.
I did think the part where
Clementine sutured herself up after the dog bite
was a bit overdone though. I guess I know what they were going for there, but I just found it irritating.
I'm waiting for the whole season before I get it. They're slow. :(
Somehow I completely missed that part 4 is now out.
I saw that yesterday but I haven't played Ep 3 yet.

I found it very disturbing to play through, so at least with me they achieved what was obviously their goal. :)
Well, that was annoying.
Latest episode is good.
I just finished S2 E5. I definitely enjoyed Season 1 more but Season 2 grew on me. The last couple of big choices I made to make were pretty tough.
I am very curious how ~70% of people could
shoot Kenny
, but only 10%
ended up with Jane
(btw I did both). What are the other options? I am pretty sure I will be replaying this one to find out.
I got really pissed when
Clem woke up from a dream with Lee in the RV; I thought the devs were gonna go with Its All A DreamTM, it would have fit with the No Going Back Episode title.
I am not as excited about a potential Season 3 as I was for Season 2, but I will definitely play it if it comes out.
I shot Kenny but abandoned Jane. Jane's actions in that scene were absolutely twisted and evil. She left AJ abandoned in a car in walker-infested country just to prove a point to Clementine and ended up basically manipulating her into killing her best friend.

Of course, if you do that you get 'rewarded' with the worst of the three major endings... but oh well.
Havent got around to playing this yet, but the company that does them is awesome. I loved the Wolf Among Us.
Played through the whole 1st season. I really get the feeling that no matter what I do the events will still mostly go the same way. Still think zombies are stupid though.
Finally played all of 2nd season. I agree 1 was better but 2 had its moments.
I'm rather surprised by how many possible endings they had. I wonder if that means Clem won't be the main character or if they'll do story railroading to get everyone to the same place.
Btw, I didn't like how simplistic Jane thing was. It was like, yes you are right, Kenny is clearly a psychopath but don't think that I'm going to quickly trust you either. Also, I kind of wish that I'd now always picked options telling Kenny to shut up. Man was he obnoxious!

I don't think Kenny was a psychopath at all. He was clearly dealing with a shitton of postraumatic stress. In the ending where you shoot him he dies apologizing to Clem. It's actually horribly sad.
I don't think I realized they were making a new game.
